Front page story in today's NY Times that confirms what a lot of people knew anyway, Big Papi and Manny were juicing back in 2003. So much for the the Mitchell Report being unbiased. www.nytimes.com

Mitchell did the best he could. He faced essentially MLB's version of the "Blue Wall of Silence"

They should just release the entire list already. When you take a band-aid off, you do it in one shot. You don't take 6+ years to do it.

This is ridiculous!
So much for anonymity....
Just as the Friar thought it was lame for Alex's name to be released after providing a sample anonymously, it's also lame to be releasing the remainder.
Also, the players were 'acting stupidly' by even agreeing to supply a sample along with their name. What kind of anonymity is that?!?!

Mitchell did the best he could. He faced essentially MLB's version of the "Blue Wall of Silence" Maybe so, but he should never have agreed to lead that commission. A conflict of interest can exist because of an APPEARANCE of impropriety. There is clearly an appearance of impropriety when 1) a guy with an interest in the Red Sox agrees to head the commission investigating MLB steroid use, 2) the report names a bunch of Yankee stars but no Red Sox of any note, 3) it later turns out that, to absolutely no one's surprise, the Red Sox 2 biggest stars were steroid users but the commission failed to discover that fact. Actually, I personally believe that Mitchell is an upstanding guy and I certainly don't believe that he purposely covered up any evidence about Manny and Papi. But it was really bad judgment for him to put himself in a position where questions like this can be raised.

I don't buy for a minute that Mitchell's omission of the Sox was innocent.

Mitchell was simply the figure-head leading a team of people. If his staff felt he looked the other way I would think someone would have come forward by now.

Makes me wonder about Johnny Damon and why his body has continued to break down over the years. Maybe it's all the walls he's run into. Of course, he's stayed healthy so far this season.

The entire list needs to be published, this onesy twoesy stuff is killing baseball. I agree. This subject was tiresome a long time ago. Publish all findings (because confidentiality is obviously not reliable) and get it all over with. MLB should grant an amnesty for all past offenses with fair warning of very stiff penalties for violations going forward. Then let the public reaction play out and let us enjoy the play on the field. We're in the Dog Days, the players are in mid-season form and the stretch run lies ahead. This is prime season for baseball at its best. I don't care about leaks from test results in 2003.
