Two really good wins at the Garden to start the playoffs. Need to steal at least one down here.

Rangers really have a solid squad they can win in so many ways and now they can bang with anyone which was always a weakness in post season they got pushed around…. Can’t do that with this current squad … Also they’ve had to play deep series in recent years which took its toll …. Be nice to get rid of caps asap and move on

They're so deep, it's fun to watch. Every line is dangerous. Keep it up, need to step on their throats.

It was fun watching the Caps announcers lament the loss and sweep.

Carolina has been tough on us traditionally. I hope the Rangers can handle the long layoff and give away home ice in Games 1 or 2.

The Rangers. Now there is a hockey team I can root for. I haven’t really followed hockey for a number of years, but when I did, I followed the Maple Leafs. I think I still have a sweatshirt around somewhere. Hope they can eliminate the Hurricanes. Boomer Esiason is a big fan of the Rangers even though his son-in-law plays for the Islanders. I like Boomer, watch his show on weekdays every morning at 6:00.

I’m surprised Carolina is favored That worries me ….president trophy winner with home ice and coming off sweep … how r they not favored? ..line usually dictates winner but as a better trying to decipher it is not always clear …. If I weren’t a ranger fan and based on that line I’d say the line says Carolina wins …. Another example is game 6 of Knick Philly series line to win series not game 6 just the series if u wanted to bet knicks u hadda lay 350 to win 100 if u bet Philly a 100 got u 250…..that line alone screams knicks will win nobody would lay 350 for 100 so Philly was a very appealing choice ….

I don’t know much about Carolina but I know they are always tough on the Rangers. Hopefully the coaching staff will know how to prepare for this series. I would not be surprised to leave NY 1-1. I have faith in these guys as they are a good mix between veterans and kids. Hopefully Igor brings his A games and keeps the Canes with one or less goals. It was nice to see some Rangers at the Knicks game and some Yankees at some Ranger games. We Yankee/Giant/Ranger/Knick people need to stick together.

Was not able to watch the game but saw the score was 3-1 so figured the game was in hand. Just saw the Rangers won 4-3. Closer than I thought, but a win is a win!

NEW YORK — There were bodies strewn across the ice, bodies tussling in the corner, bodies in the penalty box with more bodies on the way. The Garden faithful were on top of their chairs and at the top of their lungs, demanding goals and blood in equal measure. Jacob Trouba and, of all people, Andrei Svechnikov, were being ushered to the box for matching roughing minors. One official was skating aimlessly around the neutral zone, holding out a blue helmet like a Times Square busker looking for spare change, trying to find its owner. At this point of the game, Tony DeAngelo and Matt Rempe already had both been penalized for Tony DeAngelo-ing and Matt Rempe-ing, respectively. There already had been a brutal boarding of Seth Jarvis by Chris Kreider and a follow-up hit by Trouba as Jarvis was still crumpling to the ice. DeAngelo had thrown his shoulder directly into the face of Will Cuylle. Nearly every whistle had led to a skirmish, every hit a response, every official flailing to control it all. The series was 11 minutes and 13 seconds old. The second round can be the most mentally difficult of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The unbridled excitement of the first round has worn off, and the actual awarding of the Cup is still up to six weeks away — a daunting, sobering thought. Game 1 of Round 2 is often a low-pace, low-event grind, a leisurely dipping of the toe into the water, especially for two teams that cruised through quick first-round wins and had several days off in between. Not this one

Hurricanes are favored again for game 2. Rangers need to take this one. Hurricanes will be extremely tough when they are on their home ice.
