I see that Travis Lee has been released by the Nats. If Andy Phillips doesn't make the cut, I'm sure someone will claim him. Maybe we should sign Lee to a minor league contract as protection in case Minky stays under the Mendoza Line once the bell rings or if Phelps reverts to his old form.
The Nats also sent Tim Redding to the minors, They must think they have a great staff if they start cutting future Hall of Famers.
On a sadder note the Reds have outrighted Bubba to the minors. With Junior's penchant for injury, I thought he had a real shot to make the team.

Yeah.... I thought Bubba had a shot.
Lee is another great defender at 1B. Too bad he was hurt his in first go around as a Yankee.

Good idea to try to get T. Lee to a minor league deal. He is also a wicked good first baseman and (maybe) he can hit higher and better that Doug. M? ? I'm with you on this one J-Yank! But, they owe Doug what a mill? If he goes down with an injury, might be a good idea!~

Darrell May is a future HOF'er, I'm not too sure about Tim Redding - I think he's borderline.

In similar news, Oakland released Ricky LeDee, Randy Choate refused a minor-league assignment by the Twins to become a free agent, and d'Angelo Jimenez was sent to the minors by Washington.
On the flip side, ex-Yank Andy Fox was named infield and first base coach for the Marlins.
YANKEE BASEBALL!!!

Poor Bubba...
complains 'cause he's not a player here behind Matsui, Damon/Williams Sheffield.
But can't make the Reds behind a rule fiver in Josh Hamilton and some kid named Denorfia...
Guess the Red's suck too huh Bub?

Gotta add the Stratamatic victories to Redding's total to get him the 300. 3 years ago i had the houston astro's in my strat league......i had wade miller, roy oswalt, tim redding, ron villone and kirk saarloos......redding sucked so bad that when he pitched i would yank him at the first sign of trouble. .....astros strength that year was the pen.....dotel, lidge, wagner and mercir......but i think he did win 2 games so he's on pace for 300 sometime before the polar ice melts.....too bad!!! because lefty is being deprieved of seeing another hall of famer!! ;D

I guess my original point is moot, Travis Lee retired yesterday.
The Padres released Todd Walker. Should we offer him a minor league contract for infield protection ? He can play 1st if needed, cause Minky's lack of offense is starting to really worry me.

I think Cairo can do for us what Todd Walker can. Granted, he is a lefty stick, but not any better than Miggy.
Surprised about Travis Lee.... does he have some injury forcing him into retirement??

Given how lefty-heavy the lineup is, Miggy makes more sense than Walker in the utility role.
