Part of the problem might have been that, in his penultimate regular season start last year, he pitched an 8-inning shutout over the (then-struggling) Sox in Fenway. Although his final start was a loss to the Marlins, the game in Boston no-doubt endeared him to management, thinking this was the Happ they were looking for, when, really, it was a Cinderella start amidst an otherwise mediocre campaign.

To be honest, I haven’t really watch much of the games in the last week. I’ve seen parts and get turned off and turn off the game, Hope that they start to turn it around. Ik eta see what happens tonight, if they can come out with a win. Will that get them going?
But BP and Pitching is bad to a point where they are spent. I don’t know if they can turn it around but we’ll see.

Same reason they got Carl Pavano. One game in the 2003 World Series against the Yankees was all it took to put him in the Yankee freeloaded payroll.

I am glad the Yankees won but the Yanks changed pitchers too many times.

Same as the year they got him. 2018 he went 7-0, then beat Boston on 9/28. Then he gave up 3 runs in the first inning against Boston.

I am glad the Yankees won but the Yanks changed pitchers too many times. I thought Kluber had more to give after settling down in the 4th, but that was against the bottom of the order, and he would have faced 2-3-4 in the 5th -- 3rd time through, etc. After that, it was one inning apiece. The pen is pretty spent.

I agree about Kluber, thought he had settled down.

I’m not sure I’m seeing what u guys r seeing Same here. Friar has been like 23, only watching recaps of games over the past week. Tough to see we're one game out of the WC at this point, but we're certainly not out of the running. Not sure what you all are seeing in Kluber. His lines have not been good. As for last night's loss. It sucked. But, at least we showed some life.

The comments about Kluber were about that one game, and what he had left for possibly coming out for the 5th, vs. going to the burnt out pen. I thought he had another inning in him. As it turned out, Green coughed up the lead in the 6th. Not saying that leaving Kluber in would have been any better, but these relievers are fried, and starters need to go as long as possible. Can't argue with the win, I suppose. They're pretty rare these days.

We got no arms left …. It’s gonna be ugly down stretch … we’re grasping at straws … we’re done guys … very disappointing It's true about the arms, and the sad reality is that the bats give no relief. This lineup "should" but putting up runs in bushels, but they just dont. They get opposing pitcher against the fence, and constantly let them off the hook. Starters constantly needing to be perfect, relievers coming in with backs against the wall, its just too much. I'm not ready to say it's over but it's pretty darn close. They need to win the 4 games this week, all pressure free wins. I think Toronto wont stop rolling and its between Yanks and Sox for that last WC spot

Is it still unacceptable to blame the man who assembled this team? I think so. And do we still owe Gary an apology? I will say this, Gary may not be owed an apology but Stanton sure does. Seemingly ever since he's been playing in the OF, he's been everything we thought he was supposed to be.

Gary did get on my good list today.
Stanton has been magnificent. Fifteen summed it up really well above.

I have been watching Yankee baseball since 1956, and that was the single worst defensive play I have seen in all those 65 years. The worst in 65 years. I have got to agree with you here, I don't quite have 65 years, but has my vote as the single worst defensive play, hand down. Not sure what that expression means, hands down, but if Gary had his hands down, would have recorded the out.
