But in a way, they’re the same thing Not really. There was a time, before they tore down Shea and built Citi. And before Uncle Stevie replaced the Madoffs. But not now.

There ARE extenuating circumstances that make the attendance at those 2 ballparks a very different thing. That’s true but less than half of the ballgames on Sunday were better attended than the Mets game.

But I AM grateful to the Mets that I get to watch baseball all day today. Situation is courtesy the dreadful weather, but I'm feeling magnanimous, and am willing to credit the Flushing boys.

Three of the 93 teams in MLB history who have started 0-5 rallied to make the postseason:
1974 Pirates 1995 Reds 2011 Rays
An additional 12 rallied to win 84 or more games, which is what it took to make the postseason last year in the NL.

Today's announced paid attendance of 15,020 is the lowest non-COVID crowd at Citi Field since the building opened in 2009. The next-lowest is the 16,853 that attended Monday's game.

Gotta admit, was delighted with the possibility that the Mets would be swept, and 0-6, but near the end I felt sorry for the poor people there, and glad they pulled out a W in game 2.
No more Mr. Nice Guy going forward, however.

I thought he said Tyrod Taylor at first. I knew he was having trouble finding a job, so why not (googled him an saw he’s backup for the Jets)

I acted to soon and called my met fan cousins after lindor k’d to end the eighth….. I hung up and Alonso ties it … shoulda kept my mouth shut …. Sal licata will be talking playoffs again …. About 3 weeks ago he said Mets had better bullpen I couldn’t let it go … I told him if he was serious I questioned his sports knowledge and how far sports radio has sunk to new lows ….he puffed up and read me his resume he hung up before I could respond

They control the sound 📻🔘🎙️

Delighted at all the people deferring criticism of Uncle Stevie and the team for saying, no big deal that they waited so long to sign JD.
Taking forever for him to get up to speed, and now he may have been hurt in trying to accelerate the process.
All to save a couple of mil by not nailing him down earlier?
Priceless

Priceless I can’t be that hard on them. J.D. had a great year last year and nobody was willing to pay his asking price. Mets pay a huge penalty for every dollar spent and they are going anywhere this year.. kind of a no win situation caused by previous reckless spending
