We know that roids can increase speed, power/strength, and quicken recovery time etc. etc. so I have a question for you roids experts out there:
DO YOU THINK THAT IT'S POSSIBLE THAT MANY/SEVERAL PRESENT DAY MAJOR LEAGUERS HAD THEY NOT USED STEROIDS OR HUMAN-GROWTH HORMONES ETC. THEY WOULD NOT HAVE EVEN BEEN DRAFTED LET ALONE MADE IT TO THE MAJORS?
I realize that this is a hypothetical question, but I'm just curious as to your thoughts on this subject. We know that players have had huge jumps in production and greatly increased their value etc. (we think this to be the case, but not totally all players...just a suspicion), and my thought is that many some of these alleged users wouldn't even be in the bigs without the roids. What do you think?

I feel that most of them would have still been drafted, but I believe that a lot of them never would have made it to the 'show' if it wasn't for steroids. I believe that the only way that a lot of these players can sustain themselves for a full season (both minors and majors) is by using steroids.
Going from playing in high school or college to the minors is a big change and a lot more wear and tear on the body, and I believe that steroids helped a lot of these players through it.
I'm having a hard time believing that this new steroid testing policy is working. Just minor leaguers and below average to average players are being caught and punished. I just can't believe that a big time player hasn't been caught yet, unless the league is protecting them by busting all these no names just to say that the new policy is working. Thoughts??

Hey General Patton wouldn't call a Yankee Poster a "punk" would he? ?? Try to stay reasonable General Patton! Maybe we'll make a movie about you.

Of course I would't...that is what the smiley face is for....just kidding around. So, is this the name that you are going to stick with? What does the 26 mean? Hopefully that will be your "middle name" for a long, long time!!

I'm just more than thankful the talk in the booth this season has not been dominated by steroids.
At least the games I've listened to or watched.

I had trouble signing onto the "new" board, so I went with RJ26Bomber which is my age and I can remember it better! And how did MortarMan become General Patton? Big jump.

Delusions of grandeur. Another swelled head brought about by the Red Sox win last year. ;D

I'm a big WWII fan. Mortar was an explosive device, not the cement.
So in order to keep this conversation from going to the "Off Topic" section, while watching the Nationals game the other night, would you rather have Nick Johnson, Tino, or Giambi at first? Nick had a pretty good stick here in Columbus. Speaking of Columbus, the Yanks have depleted our hometown heroes a little bit yesterday by calling up Cano. Keep this up and I may as well head to the local little league games instead!! Maybe I will run into Goo!! ;D

To each his own, and it's undoubtedly a big story, but there is plenty of baseball (the kind that takes place on the field of play) to talk about. YANKEE BASEBALL!!!

Ya know, I don't wear glasses, but that small print in the quote boxes makes me think I should! ;D

"Delusions of grandeur. Another swelled head brought about by the Red Sox win last year." Ahh, David, my head is only 1/4 the size of Yankee fans since we only have 1/4 as many titles. ;D

IF Nick can stay healthy, he'd be my preference. But, when's the last time he made it through a full season? I wish him the best with the Nats (how about those guys - only 1 1/2 behind the Marlins and Braves ). Nice beard, too.

Well, Brian, you're the only one who's chosen to pretend to be a general, and an egomaniacal (if not megalomaniacal) one at that. Maybe all that winning has helped keep us on a more even keel.

I'm also glad it's not "All Steroids, All The Time". Bud Selig seems a couple of cards short of a full deck again by wanting to up the penalties now, after the current rules have just gone into effect.
But here's a much more disturbing note: ESPN.com is reporting that Major League pitcher Tom House from the late '60s - early '70s is admitting to widespread steroid use among pitchers from his era!! This is crazy stuff if it's true.

But David, I'm only a 1 star general. You have 5 stars next to your name on this board. I have a lot of catching up to do!!

My point, exactly, Brian. I have 5 stars, but I don't rub yours (or anybody's) face in it. You have 1 and act as if you're the top gun. Humility, my son, humility.
