It's all Nick Swisher's fault.

@mcculloughsl: Cashman on Tex: "He’s close to rehab games. But I can’t define ‘close’ yet." Says he needs 50 at-bats, and will take longer than Grandy did.

"...He's close, but I cannot define close yet." Ca$h should run for political office if he ever leaves baseball.

"...He's close, but I cannot define close yet." Ca$h should run for political office if he ever leaves baseball. Funny but I fully understand what he's saying. That injury was so serious and still fearful of a complete tear. Caution is the word for now but once he starts rehab games there is no going back.

How about we sign Pavano to fill out out DL team ? I thought we were banned from saying this name ever again on our site?

Anyone see Madden's column in the Daily News today? Lou Piniella says the injuries are coming from too much weight training. He's probably right. This generation of players gets hurt way more often than back in the day when they didn't do so much.

The ban is self-imposed YFPA. You utter his name at your own risk. I can't do it myself. I start twitching when I even think about it. But if you say it a few times and it doesn't kill you, you might just be a little stronger as a result. Its kinda' like a vaccine that way.

Youkilis took some BP in Tampa yesterday.
Nunez still doing nothing but stopped feeling any pain from the oblique. Will be another week before they have him do anything.
Stewart projected to play on Tuesday. .

« Game 44: Rain (Update: Postponed) MAY 19 Chamberlain will head to Tampa to continue rehab By Mike Axisa Right-hander Joba Chamberlain is heading to Tampa to continue rehabbing from the oblique strain that has sidelined him for more than three weeks now. He’ll throw a bullpen and make a minor league rehab appearance with High-A Tampa next week, and there’s a chance he could be activated when the Yankees are in town to play the Rays next weekend. Joba, 27, pitched to a 3.86 ERA and 3.46 FIP in 9.1 innings before the injury. He walked (six) nearly as many men as he struck out (seven), though all six walks came in his first three appearances — he struck out three and allowed six hits in his first seven appearances, all scoreless. Preston Claiborne has been awesome and Shawn Kelley has the third highest strikeout rate in baseball at 41.7% (min. 10 IP), but there’s always room for another quality reliever. If nothing else, the Yankees don’t have to worry about rushing Joba back right now.

its not weight training...its doctors and insurance companies.
"back in the day" the player had a choice between "sucking it up" and providing for his family or not...
today a team of doctors and specialists analyze the ailment three ways to sunday and determine if more damage can be done if the player continues to play and if it can somehow become chronic...then the insurance company steps in...
its kinda like driving a Ford Escort and maybe getting the oil changed every 5k or sometimes 6K and in a pinch 8K miles...versus driving a Ferrari and the thing's onboard computer shuts down the second its oil pollutants level drops to .000000004PPB

@teixeiramark25: Felt good to get my first AB's since March. 1-2 with a double and a walk, I'll take it. #Yankees in first place, I'll take that too!

Joba expected to be activated for the Tampa series.
Youkilis making some progress and could return in about 10 Days.
Jeter's fracture is fully healed and no longer wearing the boot. I would expect some increased physical activity is next. No known timetable when he can resume baseball activities.
Tex finally hitting. Yanks are going to slow roll him. Sounds like if no setbacks he's a month away.
Pineda has two more extended spring starts scheduled Thursday and next Tuesday. If all goes well they will put him in Minor league games. He will need a full spring training about 1 month.
ARod still doing Tee and Toss plus running.
NuniE may take BP on Friday. He's at least two weeks away.
Stewart won't start before Friday.
Joe Girardi said Ivan Nova worked 3 2/3 innings against Clearwater in an extended spring game yesterday but didn’t say what the next step is for Nova who is on the DL with an inflamed right triceps.

Will be nice to have Youk and Tex available, but have to admit that Lyle, Lyle Crocodile is giving us about as much at first as Tex would have, and will be sorry to see Adams taken off third if he continues playing like he has so far.

Lefty I agree. Don't want to words into your mouth, but I think there might be a few here who'd like to see Adams stay at 3B, regardless of #13's status. And yet...........
