Friar read some nice news today, regarding the Yanks:
Johnny Damon says he is NOT interested in signing a FA contract with the Yanks, for any price.
We Yanks fans should welcome the news that we won't have to deal with another chicken-armed CF for 5 more years.
Beltran would have been nice, but it wasn't meant to be. Time to do this the old-fashioned way, and develop a player.

Unless there's somebody who'll be ready next year, I'd still vote for going after Hunter.
Nice to hear Damon's not coming to the Bronx, though.

agree. Why go through another aging player with a balloon contract?
Nobody in minors quite yet to fill in the duties. Unless the Yankees move Matsui to CF full time (assuming they resign him) and fill the LF spot with possibly MITCH JONES or converted LF....

I always thought Damon's prime was his Kansas City days. Maybe something good will come out of the Giambi fiasco after all. That would be for the Yankees to lay off the fat old free agents. Develop develop develop.
By the way, Damon sure did sound like he wanted to be a Yankee not too long ago when he was kissing George's @$$ all winter. Hmmm Johnny. What's the matter??? The Yanks aren't looking good to you anymore?

George told him they were going to make him cut his hair and use it to make the broom that sweeps the Sox right towards the tee box.
I'll take Hunter too.
