Well done YF. If we can't laugh at this mess we'll go absolutely booooooooolistic!
Couple things:
Put me on the official Brownie's done bandwagon. It's always sad to see the decline of a great pitcher, and a great pitcher he was. We took a gamble his back would hold up, and it didn't pay off. I wish him well, but right now, if I were Joe, he goes to the pen.
I didn't like seeing Cano stand in the box and look at his ground ball to first. If you missed it, he stood there for at least a second. I cannot endear myself to a kid that's going to dog it his first game in the bigs. What's going to happen down the road? I didn't expect much from the plate, and that's what we got. He really didn't have any tough chances in the field so that's a wait and see.
I can handle a hot dog that backs it up ala Rickey Henderson. But if you don't hustle you got no place on my team.
As far as the rest of this team, I'll just sign off with...
Scratching my head in Vermont!

;D Thanks, Bill, that takes some of the edge off.
Brown should be designated for assignment. He'd be useless in the pen, just like he is as a starter. Or maybe he needs to do 3 simulated innings before a start, or maybe he can be traded for half a bottle of warm soda and a bag of used balls, or.... oh to hell with it, just shoot him, like you would a horse that comes up lame.
While we're at it, could we get a catcher, 1B, and DH who can hit a d**n? Right now, the offense, such as it is, is Jeter, ARod, Sheffield, and, to a lesser extent, Matsui and Womack. Jorge, Jason, and Tino are absolute wastes in the lineup. Cano can be expected to struggle early (although the lack of hustle isn't encouraging), and Phillips is at least going to take a while to figure out breaking pitches and changeups. This is getting very ugly.
Is it too late to start rooting for the Blue Jays?

"he'd be useless in the pen,..."
Well, maybe we could use him to get a gound ball out or something.
But it ain't just Brownie. Right now this team is collecting a check. That's it. No emotion. No drive. Nothing.

Thanks, Bill it was a good one.
I'd sing him another one:
Hit the road, Brown and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more Hit the road, Brown and don't you come back no more.

Brownie should be forced to the sideline to throw batting practice to Giambi until one of two things happen:
1) they quit from exhaustion and we can rid ourselves of these overated and overpriced bunions.
2) they redisscover their games

Very good ;D
And now its official. Congratulations Kevin Brown! You just took over Dion Sanders as the most pitiful player to ever don a Yankee uniform...
Way to go to put the pressure on the youngsters the next couple of games!!!

I loved it too Bill.
Now can you put time in a bottle? Seal this up and wait to see if they ever send another shuttle.
This one was over for me in two pitches. The infield single? Well, it would have been nice if Jeets could have made the hop play. But when Brown, who tossed something like three or four off the plate that whole horrible first inning, threw the next pitch to the backstop, I knew it was over.
I'm taking myself out if the game for two days. Honestly, Sue and I had theater tickets for tonight, and then my niece in college landed a small part that I'm traveling four hours (total round trip) to see Thursday. So root Sean and Mr. Wang on for me please. I'll be there to root Carl on Friday, and I'll even travel to the Bronx if they do the impossible and send Brown out AGAIN on Sunday (let the kids do well and have Tanyon refreshed and ready, PLEASE!). In between, I'll catch them on the tube on Saturday, then to the picture show for the Hitchhiker's Guide.
DON'T PANIC!
A message we all could use. Long way to go. We'll all have to be positive and pull them through.
And I agree with everything Goo said EXCEPT I have nothing but animosity for Kevin in my heart.
YANKEE BASEBALL!!!

Good one. I aways liked that song too! I liked the song better than Brownie (that's for sure)! Didn't his performance ( if you want to call it that) remind you of the fiasco ve Bawstin in the playoffs last year! Boom, boom, boom, and good night! The other huge question here is: HOW MANY OF THESE CONTRACT$$$$$$$$ CAN WE EAT? AND WE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH $$$$$ TO GO OUT AND GET CARLOS BELL, AND WE'RE GOING TO EAT ALL THESE CONTRACT$$$$$ ? Just how can we do this? SOS Help Help !

I laughed out loud at the punchline, YF. And that doesn't happen too often with me.
I wonder if the Mets would trade Glavine for Brown? Could be one of those "problem exchanges" that miraculously work out for one or both teams.

Actually David, Tino's been bringing that average up a fair amount lately.....not that I think he's suddenly gonna be the Tino of old, but, at least he's been coming on abit of late.

Something like this was really needed! So much negativity on the team so far... I can't wait for Wang's next start to see if there is some consistency from him. I hope there is, and he can take Brown's place. But, ugh, Wright may be out for long so we would still need another starter. Brown shouldn't be back, but he might be . Now it's Henn's turn. God bless him.

dyf, Tino's bringing his numbers up only because he was so far down. And he's got no pop left in his bat. I'll admit, I thought his 26 dingers last year was some basis for optimism, but his bat is just too slow now. Granted, he's being more productive than Posada and Giambi, but so would a pet rock.

Well, I still believe that every member of this team can show a lot more than it has. It may just be the cloud of negativity that this team's going through. Maybe Im being too optimistic but I expect many, including Tino, to get better as the season goes. Not great numbers like in the past, but at least what we expected when he was signed. Not to carry us, but to at least be solid. I don't know, Im still waiting for that 10 game winning streak. Once we get going, I think most of the pieces will look better.

I'd feel better if they could just muster a 3 or 4 game winning streak. Then we can start thinking about 10 or 12 in a row.

David, again, not saying this is anything earth shattering, or predicting Tino is on his way back to the Tino form of old, but he HAS brought the average up pretty significantly of late by being 8 for his last 20 going into tonight....hopefully he can keep that going for awhile.
