As I watched a little bit of this yesterday, it quickly occured to me how well he'd still be suited for the game today, because it never was, for him, about pure athleticism.

He was so good. But not surprising when youβre 6β9β and the smartest, best shooter, one of (if not the) best passer, and the hardest worker on the court every game.

His pass, through his defender's legs, to a guy breaking to the hoop for the layup, (fairly early in the video) is pure mind boggling.

Glad I got to see him live a few times. Quiet confidence is a great trait to have and he had heaps of it.

I only saw him one time when the Celtics played the Sixers in Philly about 1986. I took the two boys because the one was a big Celtics fan.
