Low radar prospects are gaining steam at AFL. 23 year old SS (U of MD) Benjamin Cowles, in his 3rd year in minors is quietly becoming a solid player and will be a player to look for next season. He is having a great AFL, hitting .292 4 HRs and 15 RBIs. A solid defender but he is starting to hit more to all fields should start the 2024 season at high A or AA pending on what the Yankees do with their higher tier SS at AAA and AA.
Caleb Durbin, is known for his speed, is showing off his blazing speed and SBs as he is on target to set the among the most SBs in AFL. Coining from the Atlanta organization he had a solid season in Yankees A and AA level in 2023 hitting for decent avg and did steal nearly 30 SBs. Durbin is 5’ 6” and did sport #11, (a la Bret Gardner) is a pesky player who loves to get on bases. He s a right handed hitter and has a solid OB %. He is among the top 5 in hitting at AFL with a .362 BA.

The Yankees will fix him. Increase his launch angle and exit velocity.
Then he can play in the majors with increased K’s and a Mendoza batting average.

Durbin looks like a promising prospect. Does he have what it takes to be a major leaguer. We sorely need a guy who can get on base, steal and not strike out too much. It would be great to have a guy like Durbin who could bat 9th and be on base when #99 comes to bat. Good luck kid. Rizzuto would have loved his size, and hopefully his spirit.

Thanks John.
Tom honestly I don’t know enough to say about Caleb because I haven’t seen nor watch him much. I don’t know how he is defensively. John and others can chime in. But NNY like him enough to get him at AFL and would assume he has a place somewhere at AA or even AAA next year.
As far a Sauer, it is mostly an offensive league and wouldn’t get too hung up on the runs allowed too much. Ks is good but walks is just ok. Plus I think he pitch a nearly a full season and May have tired out? I dunno
