Taken at a too-young 73, by uterine cancer. An extremely talented, intelligent, witty woman. And married to Mel Brooks for 40+ years.

Taken at a too-young 73, by uterine cancer. An extremely talented, intelligent, witty woman. And married to Mel Brooks for 40+ years. Although her smashing turn as Mrs. Robinson in "The Graduate" profoundly affected me for years, her performance in "The Miracle Worker" was heart-rending and memorable. I'll have to rent it soon. She will be missed.

Ms. Bancroft, R.I.P. YOU made me appreciate older women. ;D Your role in the Graduate cemented that. May You be free from Pain and may the Diety of your choice bring you home!!!

I was utterly oblivious to the fact that she and Mel were hubby and wife. R.I.P.

RIP, Annie.
One of her greatest roles besides the Graduate was in "Garbo Speaks."
She played a Mom who only wanted to actually meet Garbo once and say hi, etc. I forget who played her son, but the pix is a classic Annie.
