I just watched the movie Love & Mercy (2014) last night. Perhaps that's why it ran. Sorry to hear this. A tortured genius.

Brian Wilson was like a great ball player
When "God Only Knows" came out, Paul [McCartney] called it the greatest song ever written. If that's so, what was there left for me to do? —Brian Wilson, 1976

I’m glad I got to see Brian on the Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour in 2016. He was and is a huge influence in my life.

I didn’t see The Beach Boys until they basically transitioned into an oldies act.
Roosevelt Stadium Concerts ; Aug 28, 1976. The Beach Boys / The Richie Furay Band.
I remember after Richie Furay completed their sets there was almost complete silence. Someone yelled out “give it up Richie”
Poor Richie.

I’m glad I got to see Brian on the Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour in 1996. He was and is a huge influence in my life. Great photo! ‘96 would have been its 30th anniversary, though.

It was the Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour and it was 2016. Must have been tired when typing. Not unusual😂

I saw ‘em on that tour as well. Good stuff. My mom was a huge BB fan and I grew up listening to ‘em. Saw ‘em a few times during my teens/20s but never really appreciated Pet Sounds until I was older.
Oh, if you’re interested, there’s some good YouTube videos entitled “Behind the Sounds” that go into detail about each song from that album.

I always thought of The Beach Boys as a surfing band and never took them seriously. Later in life I appreciated the genius of Brian Wilson.

In fairness to me, they heavily promoted 🏄 www.etsy.com/listing/698637994/beach-boys-album-covers-20-glossynot sure how anyone can hate “pet sounds “, but I guess everyone has an opinion Have you seen the Netflix show Loudermilk? They have an episode that’s kind of related to that.

Some people like to stick to a formula and are afraid to change. Usually they disappear as times do. Saw Brian 2 years ago with Chicago. He had a walker and could barely get to his piano.
