I know many of you are already retired. I retired January 12 and I took a nice vacation, but the next three months involve lots of grandkids activities.
A few questions: - my kids seem to think I’m made of money. Did any of you have that problem and find a good way to solve it? - Do you schedule your days? It’s been so nice not to think about work and rushing to be somewhere, that I resisted doing that- but it seems like a good idea. When my ex boss considered retiring I shared that I was concerned what he would do. I said I could see him having a long breakfast, reading the paper and then puttering around the house only to realize at 4 pm he was still in his pjs. -have any of you attempted to write family musings? When my mom was 87 I thought about this and I tried to pick her brain on details on stories I remembered. It didn’t go well. Her recollections didn’t match what I remembered.

I retired.
I failed.
And returned to work, in a position that required more physical exertion and movement than I ever had before.
Emphasis on No. 2: I failed.
But this work is keeping me more healthy than I've been in at least a decade.
That is all I've got.

... this work is keeping me more healthy than I've been in at least a decade. We all get to a point where that's the thing.

But so far so good.

Hope to wind down the corporate gig in 3 years once college tuitions are in the rear mirror, step away from the PC, and work in a different capacity with less hours in a role that keeps me moving. If you sit too much, troubles develop, gotta keep moving! Winters in New England are getting old too, that will need to be addressed at some point.

I retired in 2012. My son and his wife will never ask me for money. Between the two of them they make so much money I would never talk about it publicly. I don’t schedule anything except dentist and doctors appointments. No family musings. I wrote some memoirs.

Travel is a great way to spend retirement.
