Bullet points
-- My mom died January 21st
-- Returned to work 8 days later
-- Had a nervous breakdown that 1st manifested itself Feb 17th
-- spent 13 days in Hutchinson Hospital (Roughly 1 hour away from Wichita, Kansas) 3rd floor, Behavioral Health unit
-- have been diagnosed Bipolar 1
-- am on Abilify and Trileptal
My mind is clear for the 1st time in my life.
I should have been on meds when I was 12 years old, but that was 1981 and wasn't an option.
-- my entire adult life can be seen through my past on this site
SHOUT TO THE HEAVENS when I became an athlete at the age of 42, having lost over 100 pounds in a year......
then whisper quiet as I gained it all back in 3 years.
-- Every HIGHEST OF HIGHS was followed, in short order, by seemingly bottomless lows.
-- No middle ground. Ever.
-- until now.
*********************************************************************
2023 saw me lose 1 pound a week for the year. 267# to 215#
This year, 215# to 197#
Weight ain't the issue, sports fans..... I'm not in shape. Yet.
I have a very physical full time job and am returning to Genesis Health Clubs after a long 4 year absence. I taught bike classes for 9 years and yoga/pilates- ish classes for 6.
this time, I will teach 1 bike class per week in my old spinning grounds, "Studio NFL" .... as a hobby .... ands killer workout combined with what I do at #Dayjob
**************************************************************************
My life is
1. My family Nita and I have our 9th wedding anniversary coming up in May. 15 years together, through every conceivable up and down....as a couple in June. 4 kids 4 grandkids .....holding out for 12 grandkids, but the kids aren't cooperating!
2. My band link
I play bass, write the riffs, do all vocals, and produce our albums. 2 piece band with hired drummer/engineer
1st album came out in 2021. 2nd album comes out July 13th, barring unforeseen production delays.
Not promoting the debut. Moving forward with my life, every bit of it.
P.S. Studio NFL = NO ****ING LIMITS! My name for Studio B

I remember well when you fell in love and when you dropped major weight.
You're an open book DG and a page turner at that. I hope everything going forward goes your way.
Glad to hear you are back on the bike. I got a Peloton about 25 months ago and am approaching 450 30 minute rides. It does the body good and it's turned out great for YankinIt!!!!

I thought hard about going Peloton, but every time i saw an instructor on the commercials, my hunger to return to teaching grew. Perfect for my work schedule, too. Mondays 5:15 AM, 45 minute class, hit the shower, then work (7 AM - 4) is less than 2 miles from the gym. I went in to the gym Friday to see about teaching this fall, but the fitness coordinator is my former personal trainer. She saw me, said "Please tell me you're here to teach again!" Deal! Wow. Those Peloton workouts are bad ass. I had a sub spin class teacher who plugged into our tv monitor and taught a Peloton type class. BTW, I'm sporting a mohawk these days. More aerodynamic on the stationary bike!

Best thing is that I'm my 18 month old grandson's FAVORITE! Unreal. My baby boy is in his 8th and final year in the Navy....it's been a spell since a little one clung to me like that. I read the site daily, but had rarely logged in the past few years.

Good to see you back, DG. You have been missed! Sorry for your loss, I lost my mom on December 19th, and 5 days later my wife lost her mother. Both were suffering from dementia but life goes on. Glad to hear you are getting the help you need. God bless my friend! Grandkids are the best. My grandson is the light of my life for sure.

Glad to see you back, David, and am glad that you have gotten so much of your life in order. Sorry about your mother, I know how that hurts. But know that the pain eases even if it never goes away.

My dad turns 81 next month and his dementia is heartbreaking. So sorry for both of your losses. God bless you as well, my friend.
