I just finished reading a very interesting book titled "Why we love baseball" by Joe Posnanski. The author has picked 50 Great Moments in baseball but goes deeper by interviewing players, coaches, and other parties that may have witnessed these moments. Some moments are pre Babe Ruth times and others are fairly recent. I remember some of these times, sometimes with joy and other times not so much (Bill Mazoroski, Big Papi). In each chapter I learned a little more about the event or the circumstances around it. I have gone to You Tube a few times to see videos of these moments. This is one of the best baseball books I have read and recommend it highly to my fellow baseball geeks. I have already gifted it to a friend.

Posnanski is a great author. His books about the Big Red Machine and Buck O’Neil are excellent. He wrote one called The Baseball 100 that’s supposed to be great as well.

Thanks for the recommendation. At present I am reading Summer of ‘49 by David Halberstam, half way through it. And I have The Last Night of the Yankee Dynasty by Buster Olney to read next. Just received them.

I actually had this out of the library but ran out of time before vacation and gave it back. I'll pick it up again in a while

Just received them. That’s another great one. Read it a loooong time ago but Halberstam is right up there with Posnanski. His book called The Teammates is a very good read. He wrote October 1964 that I haven’t read yet but has the reputation of being a very good book.
