With man at second and two outs, the A's decide to walk Posada (0-3 in the game) to get struggling Giambi. The results? Giambi hit a RBI double!! Great for him! That was disrespect, but he made them pay. Ncie, I hope Giambi is really turning his season around...

Props for Jason and THE key clutch hit of the game!

I don't think anyone can deny that he's looking better.
AL MVP? Not by a long shot. But I don't think that people will keep walking Posada to pitch to him if he keeps it up. As I was telling my dad the other day - even if he's no longer Giambi-for-Power, if he can still become Giambi-for-Average I'll take it. Who wouldn't want a .295 hitter in the 8-hole?

Perhaps we should all thank the idiot who threw his $7.00 beer at Jason on Saturday night, because Jason seemed to come alive.
He had a big hit last night, and did anybody happen to see him chirping at Rincon when he reached 2nd base? He was cursing him up and down, probably because Rincon thought he could walk Jorge to pitch to him. It was very cool to see!
Now, what is up with Oakland fans? There always seem to be problems with the crowd there. What happened to the whole 'Bay Area-love beads-smile on your brother everybody get together gotta love one another right now' attitude?

Probably more about the 8-game losing streak and the G-man is an easy target. It did seem to light a fire under him, though. I hope he gets hot and let's us ride him for a week or 2.

That was disrespect, but he made them pay. Ncie, I hope Giambi is really turning his season around... What was disrespectful about it? The guy is barely hitting .200 and hitting .167 in May (which would tell me that he's not exactly getting better). I don't see why that's disrespectuful. It's like walking the #8 guy in the lineup to get to the pitcher--most of the time it works, but sometimes it backfires.

Remember, they were hanging out with Yankee fans at the game. They learned from the best.

"Remember, they were hanging out with Yankee fans at the game. They learned from the best"
What are you talking about? If you're trying to be funny, then you have failed as miserably as Joe Blanton.
How many Yanks fans have been thrown out for dumping beer on players? answer - zero
How many Yanks fans have taken pathetic swings at opposing right fielders while trying to make a play? answer - zero
Now, this is not to say that Bomber fans are destined for Sainthood, but A's fans and Boston fans are reknowned for getting into trouble. What about those two fools running around the field during the game yesterday? Did they learn that from Yanks fans, too?

How many Yanks fans have taken pathetic swings at opposing right fielders while trying to make a play? answer - zero Given how the seating is at Yankee Stadium, it should be no surprise that the answer is zero.

NY Fans may have invented the obnoxious fan but the other cities have perfected it.
At least we never tackled a first base coach or started chanted another sports team sucked at a rally. The fans on the field yesterday need to be made example of before someone gets hurt. New York fans are not the worse, we just have been at it longer but not to the degree it has peaked at.

Well, it was disrespectful to walk Giambi. It is always disrespectful to walk a guy to get to someone that you think sucks. So what? It's part of the game.

They have little kids out in right field that help the Yankees by cheating. Isn't that right Mr. Tony Tarasco.

Now, what is up with Oakland fans? There always seem to be problems with the crowd there. What happened to the whole 'Bay Area-love beads-smile on your brother everybody get together gotta love one another right now' attitude? A's fans are just like us. Passionate to the point of being obnoxious. OK, there is one diference--there are a lot fewer of them. What I love about going to the Oakland Coliseum (or whatever name they are applying to it these days) is that it is the only crowd on the west coast that feels as alive as the crowd in the Bronx. These are not the latte-sipping Dodger fans, nor the sushi nibbling Mariners fans. Oakland fans are the paint-your-chest and make-your-own-banners and stick-up-K-signs kind of fans (though there are few good places to stick up Ks in that stadium). They have one plus versus Red Sox fans for me, which is that when I go to the Coliseum (which I have done a lot) in my Yankees gear (ditto) I don't get harassed, spat on, cursed out, beer poured on me etc... (all of which has happened to me at Fenway). it is a fun place to see a ballgame. The fan with the beer, well, obviously he was drinking and lost control. Pathetic losers like that are in every stadium, though. If it wakes up Jason, all the better. I saw a news report about the fans that ran on the field being arrested and charged with criminal trespass. How about Byrnes tackling the guy? Ken Macha said later he wished Byrnes had stayed out of it, though. -ctan

It's like walking the #8 guy in the lineup to get to the pitcher--most of the time it works, but sometimes it backfires. Well, you aren't actually walking Bonds to get to a pitcher. It was somewhat disrespectful because Posada had done nothing at the plate and was probably going to be an out. Posada was 0-3 and at least Giambi had walked, showing you that he still has good vision at the plate. Yeah, Giambi has been struggling, but it wasn't like Posada was on a Tino Martinez hot streak. I understand that the strategy was logic, but not necesary. I called it disrespect because for Giambi it had to be. And also, I'm not completely sure but I think that before Posada was walked, there was only a man at first. You put a runner in scoring position by walking a player that isn't exactly hot for a guy that is struggling? Don't exactly remember the play, but I really thought the intentional walk was unnecesary. Thats just me. I know it isn't exactly disrespect, but I think that on the intentional walk there was something about humiliating Giambi because he has been so awful and because he was once an A'. Anyway, I understand your argument and I agree. Its just the impression I got when it all happened...
