It's time for the "it's a nice problem to have" cliche, but I am happy to read that Ruben has begun his rehab a-s-s-ignment.
But if there aren't enough spots in the lineup to get Bernie more at bat's now, what will there be in a week?
I was thrillled that Bernie smacked the salami last night, as were we all (except for the loyal opposition), I'm sure. But I didn't think he looked good in his other at bat's. It's an untimely quibble, I know, in light of his winning the game for his teammates, the Streak, us, and in particular Mr. Wang, who deserved a "W."
But if Ruben is healthy upon his return, he should be the DH at least four/five times a week imo. I am glad to see that Jason is generating SOME offense, and I've always loved Bernie. But Ruben has hit the ball hard since he overcame the rib pull in mid-March, and he deserves whatever we can get him.
(and btw, why not replace the screening software with a hit squad that can take out anyone with the audacity to type a-s-s immediately--that'll learn 'em)
YANKEE BASEBALL!!!

Knux, you are right. It is a nice problem to have. But even though Ruben has been instrumental when available, it is always a concern to disrupt a winning streak. I have confidence that Cash and Joe will do the right thing. I tend to agree with your thoughts about Bernie and Jason. Right now, they are the only ones that might benefit from a trip to the DL. Not discounting Bernie's Grand Slam or Jason's GW double the night before, they are the least productive players on the roster. There is going to be some tough love no matter what the decision.

I'm numbed. I sure hope Ruben is in full shape when he returns. Yes we need him somewhere and sometime in the games. Yes, it is a nice situation to have especially playing the Mets and couple games in NL parks. Regardless who starts, we can pretty much say that Bernie, Giambi, and Ruben will not start this weekend with the hot bat of Tino. But boy 3 pretty good boppers on the bench huh? I think Mr. Torre will figure out something, and I guess thats why George pay him $4 million bucks a year. I think Mr. Torre needs to give Bernie the DH spot tonight and rest Giambi for a game and see if Bernie can carry on a mean Tino Bambino streak...

ESPN had a crawl on Sportscenter that Ruben came out of a rehab game with a leg injury!!!
Don't know how long he'll be down this time. Maybe they'll have something on the pregame.
