In the midst of heaping the (well-deserved) accolades on last night's offensive hero Mr. Giambi, let's not forget the outstanding pitching that made all that offense unnecessary. Redeeming himself from his rocky outing against these same Mariners a week ago, Carl Pavano really brought his A-Game. A measly 5 hits in 9 innings? Keep in mind that one of those came in the 9th when he was out of gas. Let's keep this streak rolling, fellas! Moose is up next and we go for 11!

Agreed! Seeing Pavano dominate has been on of the highlights of this 10 game burst! If he can pitch like that, the pressure on Unit and Moose to ALWAYS succeed comes down to a much more reasonable level.
Way to go Carl!

Totally agreed. Pitching is the key. Nice to see Pavano adjusting nicely after a horrendous outing last week.
It is also nice to see that we are getting several heroes responding or picking up on every different night. Reminds me of the '98 team...One night was Tino, then Womack and Cano, then Wang and Bernie and then Giambi and Pavano last night. Hate the idea of just relying Jeter, Shef, Matsui and A-Rod...The bottom half of the order have been life saving grace for us the last week....

Look at the production of Cano (while forgetting about his youth and inexperience for a moment) in the number nine spot, and think Scott Brosius in '98. The only thing missing is the long ball, but the doubles are very impressive. YANKEE BASEBALL!!!
