Phil Hughes and Tyler Clippard, might very well find themselves in the Bronx at some time during the course of the season. Hughes, of course, is the poster boy for the Tampa player development department - the "can't miss" phenom who nevertheless struggled in his second major league camp this spring. The 22-year-old Clippard, on the other hand, is a very interesting subject. A ninth-round draft pick in 2003, he has received very little hype in the organization, even though, last year at Double-A Trenton, he had a standout season, leading the Eastern League in strikeouts with 175 in 166 innings. He gave up only one run in 6-2/3 innings this spring before being sent out, but it was enough for one scout, who saw him a lot last year, to observe: "He's just as composed as Karstens but with better stuff. He's good enough to be in the majors right now with a lot of other clubs."
