He wil indeed play both ways and it will break the ice for others to do it. Many won't be able to handlle it at the ML level, but those that can will get the chance.

This poor young man is now Sidd Finch.

"Here's what questions Ohtani is asking the teams:
1. What is your evaluation of Ohtani as a pitcher and as a hitter? 2. What are the team’s medical training and player performance philosophies? 3. What is the quality of the minor league and spring training facilities? 4. What resources does your team have for helping Ohtani assimilate into the city he eventually plays in? 5. What is the vision you have for integrating Ohtani into the team’s organization? 6. Why is the team a desirable place to play for Ohtani? 7. Relevant marketplace characteristics ?"

There’s an article from one of th Chicago White Sox fan sites on why Otani might come to the south side of Chicago. Basically it says that while the Chisox can only offer a bonus of $300k, they’re heading in the direction with some up and coming stars and can win in a few years. They can also offer him all the offensive ab’s since it doesn’t matter to a losing team. They also have had success with Japanese players since they signed one in 2005.
Sign me up for $3m less on a losing team! We’re going to lose Otani !

What the hell is a Ham Fighter anyway? The team is named after an infamous gang. Initiation includes having to battle several forms of meat - ham, bologna, turkey, roast beef.... "Ham Fighters" was deemed more catchy than "Meat Fighters".

What the hell is a Ham Fighter anyway? Proper team name is the Hokkaido Nippon-ham Fighters or Nippon-ham Fighters or just one word Fighters No one is fighting ham or any other pork product.

Hypothetically, can an AL team bat a pitcher and skip the DH?
