Sorry you cannot put Stanton in the same category with Killebrew or other top players to play in the game. Stanton is a totally different type of player. Never said Tartabull was better than Stanton nor was I comparing him to Stanton in numbers. Was referencing when Tartabull came to Yanks, his production declined despite he did hit 30 something HRs in his 2nd year with a bad Yankee team. You know the fans soured on Tartabull. Tartabull got hurt and his production decline. That is what I was comparing or referencing. We expected a lot from Tartabull. Now fans are expecting Stanton to hit 50 every year. If you want to compare numbers Tartabull hit higher avg and OB% than stanton despite Tartabull s declines years in his last 5 years of baseball. Like Tartabull, Stanton was riddled with injuries. What do we expect from stanton for 10 years? Sure he ll hit ( or should) hit couple 50 HR seasons, and let’s just hope he doesn’t decline like several players have done donning the Yankee uniform. My point is am I happy we have him, sure but he is not imo what we needed. When they were Stanton's age (going into their age-28 seasons), Killebrew had 223 career HR's, Reggie Jackson had 189, and Tartabull had 121. Stanton has 267. Of course, Killebrew and Jackson both hit more than 350 HR's after they turned 28, and Stanton is TBD. It's a fair point to mention Stanton's injury history. Maybe he won't be able to stay on the field. But maybe he won't get injured as much if he DH's. It's not crazy to think that he could wind up with 500 plus career HR's.

Remember stanton took one to the face. Not exactly injury he could avoid

Doesn't reflect their relative height differences...but I love the pic none-the-less!

Yankees have a great chance to have the Rookie of the Year two consecutive years.

Signing CC means we no longer have the money for Machado this season. Obviously Ca$h knew the opportunity was gone before he signed CC.

At least they get a chance to give Andujar a shot before deciding whether to go after Machado. I suspect that's been part of Cash's plan all along.

I am not enamored with Stanton at #3 particularly if he is hitting behind Judge because the two them, they struck out roughly 350 times this past season, nearly striking out nearly 1 out every 3 ABs. Sure Judge walks a ton and both can hit long balls to quickly put us up 2-0, 3-0, etc but if you go by the numbers, they have a higher chance to K then hitting a HR...Just my opinion....Split the gap between them and insert Bird. I think this makes the lineup more imposing...

I also think that Bird will end up hitting third, Dave, for the reasons you state - plus, managers love to alternate lefty/righty hitters.

Lot of season to play with the order. So many possible variations with these guys, they'll figure it out and settle on whatever works best. It's not how you start, it's how you finish.

Two animals.......
Gary Sanchez cranks up Yankees hype: ‘Two and a half animals’ By Dan Martin
December 16, 2017 | 7:02pm
One of Aaron Boone’s top priorities when he became Yankees manager was to get to know Gary Sanchez, who was benched briefly by Joe Girardi last season.
Sanchez said he and Boone met Friday night, and the catcher indicated the meeting went well and is confident the two will have a strong working relationship — and he insisted he had no issues with Girardi.
“I always got along with Joe,” Sanchez said through an interpreter Saturday. “I appreciate everything Joe did for me.”
And he said he had gotten over the benching in August.
“I left that in the past,” Sanchez said after signing autographs at All Star Collectibles in Wayne, N.J. “I never took anything he did personally and knew he was trying to make me a better player.”
Sanchez is confident he’ll work well with Boone, who has never coached or managed.
And he’s looking forward to being in the same lineup with Giancarlo Stanton, whom he met at the All-Star Game in Miami in July.
“Now we have two animals in the lineup,” Sanchez said of Stanton and Aaron Judge. “Maybe two and a half [with me].”
Sanchez also thought a full season from Greg Bird, as well as the presence of Brett Gardner and Didi Gregorius would make the Yankees’ offense a force.
But he warned that there were no guarantees for a team that was one game away from the World Series.
“We can’t look too far ahead,” Sanchez said
