Paul Simon. Was great with Garfunkel. Hopelessly dull without him.

And despite their success, petty jealousy got in the way and they could not get along.

Paul Simon and Edie Brickell are still together? Cool! I remember people hating Edie Brickell but I don't remember why. In pre-internet times it was pretty significant when there was a concentrated hate movement against a public figure.
As for the Simon and Garfunkel thing...I appreciate both eras, Simon with and without. For some reason I bought Paul Simon's "Rhymin' Simon" on 8 track and wore the oxide off the tape I listened to it so much. Can't argue that Simon was the song writing force in the duo.
In 1981 on a Saturday afternoon in September, I took the D train from the Bronx down to Central Park with some friends looking for something to do. That S&G reunion concert was awesome.

In my humble opinion, Garfunkel was quite good without Simon. As a matter of fact I preferred him over Simon - he was less boring.

Seriously? Simon wrote ALL the tunes. Garfunkel is a smart talented guy, beautiful singer, but on that Central Park day in 1981, I guarantee you it hundreds, not multi thousands, showing up if it's Artie by himself, with HIS music.

Musically. Seriously. Tastes differ.

Simon did virtually (if not literally) all of the writing. When they split, Art's big hit "All I Know" was written by Jimmy Web. S&G were fantastic together, but Simon's tunes were a major factor -- that early songwriting was brilliant. I am glad, though, that they were performed by both, rather than Simon alone. I don;t like his solo work nearly as much. As Zbi said, different tastes.
Simon taught songwriting at NYU for while, and later founded the Guitar Study Center in NY with Edie. I saw Paul's supposed farewell concert in Brooklyn ... whatever that place is where the Nets play, IIRC.

Art is a great cover singer.
I Only Have Eyes For You, for one.

Kodachrome is a great song. It is, but donβt forget Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard. The video with a terrific cameo by The Mick!

When I was in college we lived in an apartment on the first floor. The doorbell didn't work and the maintenance man lived on Mars. So people would come around back and knock on our doors. Our student neighbor across the hall began dating a guy in a band playing clubs around the northeast and guys in the band would show up looking for her. Just before we moved out they signed a recording deal. In a few years they were selling out football stadiums. The band was Bon Jovi.

We and another couple took a day road trip two weeks ago, and part of that was seeing Luckenbach, Texas for the first time. What a cool place, exceeded my expectations. And I noticed a road sign near there.....Wimberley, 40 miles. Was tempted to try and look up Willie and Paul!
