He should go ahead and sign the franchise tag and get ready for the new season. Ezekiel Elliott showed that paying big money to running backs isn't worth it. The position is not valued like it used to be, the market has changed. Saquon is lucky that if he has a big year, he might get some valuable endorsements. Sitting out will just diminish him.

Seems that he should have taken the $13 million per year.

i’d love for him to show up and play all pissed off for a few games.
i agree, if he sits out he will never be close to the same. the giants were very patient with him during all his injuries, now shut up and run.

The franchise tag is guaranteed money, correct?
Maybe the Giants could add some incentives

Barkley and his agent screwed this up. According to this, the Giants could offer incentives for this year, they just can’t negotiate a long term deal. sports.yahoo.com/arbitrary-franchise-tag-deadline-doing-143143376.html

Like I posted that window has closed. Even if the Giants traded him the Franchise Tag follows him for 2023.

When a player doesn't do a long-term deal by the mid-July deadline, the only option is a 1-year deal. But the two sides can negotiate that 1-year franchise tag into a 1-year new contract. It's very rare. But that's what happened here. Smart on all sides.

So they have their weapon ready to go for the new season. When you compare what basketball players make to football players, it's insane.

I've heard both ways whether they put the "no tag" language in his contract. In any event, its kind of a silly rule. Cant sign to a long term deal, only a 1 year deal. But now that he's signed a 1 year deal, he can sign an extension
