Well, being as the Yankees haven't given me anything to cheer for, I made my way down to the Meadowlands and placed my bets for the Derby. Yes, I bet on George's horse (and a few others). I figured since his team wasn't winning, maybe his darn horse would. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm almost dreading going to the Stadium on Monday night. I sure hope they start turning things around this weekend.

Not even his horse won. Ouch! At least we won, today...

I'm happy to trade a Yankees' win for a horse's win, ANY day! :-) I only lost $25 (bet $50 on the nag, but recouped $24.80 on the 3rd place finisher).
Now, how 'bout a winning STREAK, Yanks?!! LET'S GO!!

We lost $26, as we took George's horse ($10), a $5 exacta box with Wilko (whose name I'm still waiting to hear in the call of the race), and $1 tri box with the other longshot who came in second.
Years ago, my brother and I hit a win, exacta, and triple on the Derby (Unbridled was the winner, and Pleasant Tap closed for third--I forget the second-place horse), and came away with something like $1,500.
No such luck since however.
