Always loved that ole queen tune! But the NBA and the union have broken off talks, and now there's whispers of a lockout at the end of June. Another pro sports mess.

Yeah, I heard that, too. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but wasn't Gary Bettman a protoge of David Stern before he became the NHL commissioner? It seems that every league he touches turns into a smoldering heap. At this point, it seems entirely plausible that we could have two leagues in lockout mode -- and a lot of pissed off fans -- come this winter. Not a pretty picture, folks.

Is Stern a complete moron, or is it the owners, or what? I suppose the fact that the NBA has been moribund since Jordan retired may have something to do with it, but this seems like archetypal self-destructive behaviour, particularly after the NHL has already attempted to commit suicide (success yet to be determined).

When they have the likes of Rick Barry, et al touring to promote increased fan interest you know it's not a good sign of a healthy sport.
Personally, I'm yawning.

The differece there is the NBA is making money. In he NHL 17 team allegedly lost money so by closing down the season it was more profitable. If the NBA locks out the teams you might as well close down MSGN and Fox Sports for the winter. At least YES can play Yankeeographys. The NHL will be back in some form or another. If the use replacement players they sure better use replacement prices. Heck I enjoyed the ECHL this season.

If the NBA locks out the teams you might as well close down MSGN But wouldn't that cost Mr. Dolan money? I don't see a down side to this, sorry.

The NBA has much more to lose than the NHL did. MSG will have virtually nothing to show in the winter months.
