As a matter of fact, to put it mildly I'm not a fan of football. Yesterday, I decided to watch Super Bowl game. For the first time in my life. Why?
It was presented in Polish TV and there are no ML baseball now. As we say in Poland, Na bezrybiu i rak ryba i. e. When there is no fish, even crayfish is a fish. So where there is no baseball, even football is baseball.
I'm certainly in no danger of replacing baseball with football as my favorite game, but I don't regret watching Super Bowl. Emotions, changing of a lead, errors, overtime etc. I must say that comment of the game in Polish television was very professional. I had some idea about football earlier, but even people with no idea about American football(like vast majority of Poles) could understand it. Good job of commentators.
And a little touch of baseball - quarterback of Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes is a son of an ex-ML pitcher Pat Mahomes.
Generally, time pleasantly spent.

Both Mahomes and Purdy are exceptional athletes. So glad i don’t have the watch Brady anymore. He was probably the greatest QB ever, but he played for the bad guys

We had a chatty crew over and focusing on the game and the commercials was a challenge for me due to constant conversation.
In general, it's a great day for the USA and any other interested folks in the world and if it were up to me, the day after the Super Bowl (always the first or second Monday in February) should be a national holiday. If I ran for president, this would be one of my major platforms. A large portion the country is overtired today and we are not at our best. OSHA on high alert.

Simply start the season one week later.

Interesting that for a game that is timed, as are most major sports, the overtime was decided like extra innings in baseball. With SF scoring 3 with their possession, it left KC, in their "half", having to either tie to extend the game, or exceed to win.

I mean Mahomes with the ball, needing a touchdown to win.

I was convinced that SF would score a touchdown starting overtime, and that KC would probably match it.
Kickers were amazing.
Couldn't wait for it to be over so I could watch the DVR of the 5th installment of this year's True Detective. There is just a 6th left, the final, next Sunday.
Time for baseball

I believe I would prefer playing an entire quarter as the OT period. Then, if it remained tied, play sudden-victory in the second OT. And.....if coaches throw a fit about a never-ending game, this could be used only in the playoffs.

I agree with John and Tarheel (and others, I'm sure) that it was a mistake electing to receive in OT. It put the onus of a TD on that opening drive. Once SF had to settle for 3, it really took the pressure off of KC. To .02's question, yes -- once SF failed to score a TD, I thought it was the beginning of the end for them, thinking Mahomes would get it done, as he indeed did.
The muffed punt was a killer that was instantly converted to 7 for KC. The punt return guy could have fallen on the ball rather than trying to scoop it (generally rule #1 with loose balls). Plus, SF's fumble on offense in the red zone cost them another 3 at least. Those two turnovers meant a 10-14 point swing right there in what ended as a tie game in regulation.

I disagree. KC just happened to make the plays. Converted a 4th & 1 and a 3rd & 7 in OT. The big nail in SF’s coffin was that missed extra point.
Definitely one of the more entertaining super bowls I’ve watched.

The clock is an integral part of the game, and clock management an important part of offensive strategy.

I disagree. KC just happened to make the plates. Converted a 4th & 1 and a 3rd & 7 in OT. The big nail in SF’s coffin was that missed extra point. Definitely one of the more entertaining super bowls I’ve watched. SF would obviously have preferred making that PAT, but the miss allowed KC to settle for a field goal to send it into OT. Had it been a 4-point margin for KC's last drive, they would have no choice but to play for the TD, which I'd have bet they would have made. So, in a way, the miss might have preserved SF for the time being. BTW, had SF gone up 7 in their OT drive, does anyone think KC would have gone for a 2-point conversion on their own subsequent TD? I do, given the weapon of a scrambling Mahomes and the play calling of Andy Reid -- line up to spread the field, do some trick blocking and diverting routes, and let Mahomes take it in on foot. 40-39 Chiefs.
