This year I was determined to give GC a chance. He had slimmed down (not that he was fat) and he seemed be making more contact in spring training. After last nights game he has struck out 11 out of 20 AB. His strike out average (SOA), I think I made that up, is .550 while his B A is .150. How long do we hold out hope for Stanton. I know he is trying and that he worked out hard during the off season, but he is hurting the team. When the Martian is healthy and ready to come back, I will hate to see GC getting up when JD is ready. As long as he wears the uniform I will root for him but I am concerned

When the Martian is healthy and ready to come back, I will hate to see GC getting up when JD is ready. As long as he wears the uniform I will root for him but I am concerned I definitely didn’t like his performance yesterday, but Gallen is very good and only gave up 3 hits. Last year it seemed he was extremely vulnerable to swinging at balls that were impossible to hit (e.g. low and outside). He held off all but one yesterday. Let’s hope today will be better, though Kelly is also a very good pitcher. Stanton is untradeable and I doubt the Yankees will DFA him for either 2024 or 2025 while they owe him $32 million per year. Maybe they will for his last 3 years, since the Marlins are sharing the bill. So as the saying goes “it’s cheaper to keep him”, which isn’t exactly true, but I think we should all just be supportive and hope for the best. I do believe he’s trying his best,

I genuinely like the guy, but it can be quite frustrating watching him. It is awesome when he gets hold of one.

Last year it seemed he was extremely vulnerable to swinging at balls that were impossible to hit (e.g. low and outside). He held off all but one yesterday. Over the last few games, it seems he has succumbed to the 2-strike low-away pitch several times. Not to pick on him -- it's early and all that -- but it's disappointing if that remains a problem. The entire planet earth knows to throw off the plate to him with 2 strikes. Given that history, I wish he would lay off of any pitch near that part of the plate in those counts -- we all know it's going to break outside, why doesn't he? But I do root hard for him. When he's good, he's really, really good.

The guy has been terrible for almost 2 years now, I dont know what the answer is but thinking he'll turn it around at this point is the definition of insanity

“When he's good, he's really, really good.”
Reminds me of a nursery rhyme

Everyone has been talking about how he slimmed down but he honestly doesn't look any different to me. Guy has always been in shape. Regardless, that was an effort to stay on the field, shouldn't have any impact on his hitting. That looks the same too so far unfortunately.

He was listed last year as 245 lbs and refused to provide an update to reporters. I don’t think the weight and height measurements are accurately reported anyhow, so I can understand why he didn’t answer.

Let's make a sweet deal for Stanton and Nestor and roll to the Playoffs.

Let's make a sweet deal for Stanton and Nestor and roll to the Playoffs. I think you would need to setup a Fund Me to payout his contract

Make a deal with the Met's the rainouts and poor attendance we can probably get a good deal for the hamburger and hot dog buns.

Stats don't lie. When a professional athlete peaks, dazzit. Nowhere to go but down.

Grisham isn't going to light fires but if DJ is healthy and hitting and Dominguez comes back and hits the team might be better with Stanton on the bench.

Gee, already?
What is everyone’s expectation in Giancarlo for the season? I mean if we re expecting the old Giancarlo hit 35/45 HRs??? I mean come on. If he can improve from last year s avg/HRs that will be a huge boost!

Yes, he should be able to put up those numbers, he’s only 34. That’s still in his prime for several years!

Stanton homered twice in our season opening series last year. He has homered in a game where we didn't need it, but doubled and scored the first run in a game against the 'stros. Until today (when he sat) his stats (too many K's, I know) have rivaled anyone not named Soto, Volpe, or Cabrera.
There is little reason to expect a big bounce back, I know. But this talk is entirely too early, imo.
One other factor: Licatta published a piece on Saturday saying he must be released. This from a guy who has dismissed Cole and Judge.
I AM NOT criticizing anyone for being out on Giancarlo. You have plenty of evidence on your side.
I'm holding out, at least until May 1. Seems like DJ probably won't be roiling roster numbers much before then.

Still starting trouble. No one dismissed Judge or Cole. Age in pro-sports is very different than real life. I'm still honored you compare me to a sports host in one of the biggest markets in professional sports. Stanton in now a .200 hitter with occasional pop. I didn't sit him twice this week. Aaron Boone did.

Aaron Boone did. I'm not comparing you to a host. I'm saying I hear him say stuff, and you repeat it verbatim (same exact words) hours later. If you're honored by that, I have no problem with it. Peace, but seeing as I criticized him (and not even that actually; I simply shared that he called for his release) and not you, why come back at me? 6-1. It's all good.

I wonder if retirement is crossing his mind. This can't be fun for him and the world is his oyster and he has a passion for travel.
