He’s never going to retire. Way too much money on the table.

Unless someone does a quote reply I don’t see these posts in my timeline which is what I prefer. OK... what's the purpose of saying this? So certain people shouldn't be quoted because you get triggered by a difference of opinion. Come on.

So funny I'm here to talk about the Yankees while the 2 older statesman are here to go after me. I really can't do anything about it except to behave and stay on topic. Yankees are 6-1 and we have a Opening Day in the Bronx tomorrow.

Toronto is having a slow start, but they always bring their A game against the Yankees. Can you believe these batting average numbers SpringerRF .120 . Guerrero Jr.1B .208 BichetteSS.150

I think Kiermaier has returned to his home dome in St. Pete. Although (confession here -- ouch, I think he has the prettiest eyes in the game) it's good to see him and the Jays struggling, I don't believe it in his case until he faces us.

Until Stanton shows he can turn on a fastball, we should all be worried. The Astros did us all a favor by throwing breaking pitches.
We may as well give him until June, since there's really no choice in the matter. The Yanks can't give up on him yet, so neither should we.
In the meantime, the Yanks should be giving him every opportunity to succeed. This means batting him in the 5 spot, with Gleyber protecting him.
It Stanton is still riding the Interstate and striking out 50% of the time or more, Then hard decisions will need to be made.
Until then, sit back and root for him and see what happens. Pujols seemed to find a way.

Fully agree on the fastball comment. I don’t know why any team would throw him anything but fastballs. I’d to see him hit those.

I don’t know why any team would throw him anything but fastballs. But again, as well documented, he's at his worst when he swings at sliders headed 6 inches off the plate and low. I'm giving him the time GF suggests. I have hope. But I fully understand and support fans who can't take it anymore, who have had enough. Amusing sidenote (which I hope can establish that my disdain for Licotta doesn't necessarily extend to ANY BtB member): Cohost Brandon Tierney is joking today that he is lining up lots of security for their show from the Hard Rock st Yankee Stadium tomorrow to protect Sal from the host of Yankee fans eager to get their fangs into his a$$.

It's the offspeed anywhere near the plate that's the mistake right now. You're right, he struggles laying off the sliders off as well as hitting any fastball. While I'm very worried about him rebounding, still think it's way too early for any moves. Because the team can absorb a struggling hitter right now (unlike last year), but also because we know he's capable of going off (or at least we hope he still is). Plus there's not exactly any other options pounding at the door for an opportunity. I'm with you, he should get at least a couple months to see if he can right the ship. He's not going anywhere with that contract.

Eventually the field will become more crowded with the return of Jason Dominguez and, at some point, the emergence of Spencer Jones -- both potential franchise centerpieces. One of those good problems, I suppose.

Why run a Yankee message board if you are going to hate on and criticize a member?
Right now Stanton will be a platoon player and just have to earn playing time. The problem will be when the injured players come back. Someone is going to get sent down or released because of the salary owed. If Stanton is producing so be it but if he is batting .200 or below and not running at 100% that is an insult to the uniform.

Those things always have a way of working out. Don’t have a Chrystal Ball but Grisham is on the bubble when The Martian returns in July.

They have a lot of money tied up in Stanton and they want to do whatever they can to see him turn around. We all want that. If he can still turn on a fastball, despite current difficulties, it'll prove worthwhile.

True but he’s had only 21 At Bats. In his Prime Derek Jeter once went 0-34.

In 2022 he batted .211/.297/.462 with an OPS of .759, essentially tied for third on the team (Torres has .761). I’d be satisfied if he can perform at that level for a few years instead of the Yankees paying $120 million and having him give that production to another team for league minimum.
