Name the only Yankee pitcher to win the AL MVP.
(I'm tempted to give the answer "Ron Guidry" partial credit but, alas, the question is not, "Name the only Yankee pitcher who should have won the AL MVP.") I guess it was so hard to honor him for that in the midst of all those other 25-3 seasons for pennant and series winners.

Not Sparky, Phil.
This guy did not play with the Babe, but he was before our time (except maybe Lefty?--LOL)

I'll go with Jackie Chesbro of the 1903 Highlanders and the 41 win season....could it be him?

Not him, Bernz.
I don't think they gave it out that far back to tell the truth.

I cheated & looked it up...note to the rest, you wouldn't think of him as a typical MVP.
Good Question Knuckles!

Allie Reynolds? When in doubt, go with Mom's fave.

You're much closer on the time frame, DL, but this guy suffers from having played most of his time after the Babe, but before Joe D. He was a teammate of Gehrig when he started, and of Reynolds his last year.

I cheated, too, and Bernz's clue is very apt, if not very helpful. Beaut, Knux.

I'll "flip the cards," so to speak, around noon, although I have to say I would certainly have no objection to anyone who "cheated" calling out the answer.
This is a name that I'm pretty sure was totally unfamiliar to me in the fan-only portion of my life, before some books and the Web got me into the history of it. And if I did know the name, I absolutely didn't know he won an MVP.
You would have to believe that it came up in 1978 when fans debated who should win that year's MVP.

Where was Zbi on this one?
Now that I mention it, where has he been period since the loss to the Angles?

Pretty hotly contested elections going on in Poland, I understand. (Doesn't look for good for people on Zbi's side of things too, I think.)
Just a guess.
