;D ;DFor those that have had the chance to see Bernie in the WBC games, you must feel quite happy for him and for the Yankees, if you are a Yankee or Bernie fan, that is. He has been voted by team Puerto Rico, as it's most valuable player in the opening round. Last night, he hit a monstruos Home Run against the Cubans that gave P.R. an early 2/0 lead, which eventually turned the game into an 12/2 KO of the Cubans. He almost hit another 3 run HR in his last at bat, the ball being hit very deep and high, being caught close to the wall. I can sense that we will get the best out of this man, who has been everything opposite of what a guy named Bonds, no, not James Bonds, but the other one who thinks he has been god in a baseball uniform. Good for Bernie!

I was delighted to see the blast Bernie hit in the second (third?) inning, Johnny, though I was disappointed the Cuban team coulldn't get their pitching together well enough to make it more of a game. We didn't get ESPN2 in the hotel in Tampa, so I have seen less of these games than I would have liked.
Although there was nothing cheap about the two-run bomb that got Puerto Rico started, I thought the near miss was even more impressive, as it was more of a line drive and hit the opposite way. I don't think Bernie's shown that kind of opposite-field power in some time. I'm excited for him, Puerto Rico, the Yanks, and myself, not necessarily in that order.
You must have been stoked last night, Johnny. If not, you would apparently be the only one on that island not to be. I love the passion the Caribbean-based fans bring to this game.
YANKEE BASEBALL!!!

Knuckles: Bernie is as loved here as he is in N.Y. and to see him produce as he has in these games, it is truly wonderful. Yes, there's a lot of passion for baseball in the Caribbean and the best is yet to come. We look forward to facing the Dominicans, I believe, on Sunday. That should be some game! If the park held 65,000 fans, I guarantee you they would fill.
