;D ;DWe can say that these games, although meaningless except for the pride of showing the world that "my" country is the best in the world playing baseball, has proven the following:
1) That the world has caught up with the quality of baseball played in the USA.
2) We should consider more scouting in Asia, as we have seen how Japan and Korea can play with the best of them. These countries have shown that although they don't have the physical characteristics of American players, they can beat you with quality pitching and sound baseball, doing the little things to beat you.
3)We should not assume that we are the best in the world and go out there as if "It's ours" before the first ball is even thrown. Over-confidence can do you in.
What does it matter if you got a team of future Hall of Famers playing without thinking that "it's the team first and then me," and that they're on a mission, which is to win this tournament, even if it proves hardly anything.
4) The world has taken these games in a frenzy, as huge crowds are going to watch them. In Puerto Rico, we have had sell-outs as has been the case in the other countries, USA and Japan. Maybe we were wrong in underestimating the success of these WBC showdown.
5) If these games are to be played every four years, as it probably will, after these first WBC have been quite profitable for someone(S), the time between now and the next should be enough to better program these, especially with TV transmission.
Let's hope that we have learned that in a short series, there are no small enemies, but that if we are not careful, we can become our own worst enemies!
