8- ::)Barry Bonds, in all probability, will join team USA in substitution of ailing Johnny Damon. If this is so, then MLB and it's Commish. Selig are slapping the game, giving it a low blow. Under no circumstances should Barry Bonds put on the USA uniform. He would be disgracing it and if the call on third against Japan left a bad taste in many of us, this would definetely top it. Here's the article and I just hope this never happens. BONDS ON DECK IN WBC? By KEVIN KERNAN ----------------------------------------------------------------------- March 15, 2006 -- FULLERTON, Calif. - Barry Bonds might be asked to join Team USA to replace Johnny Damon, if the U.S. makes it to the final round. "At this point I think I would contact anyone," manager Buck Martinez said yesterday. "If we have a need to add someone to this roster, we would be open to anybody who's on that provisional roster." Bonds is on that roster. "Barry Bonds with a couple of games under his belt is pretty potent," Martinez said. "The way [Bonds] talked to the players on Friday [in Scottsdale] he just wanted to lend support to the team and let them know he was behind them. He's very supportive of the guys." Whether Commissioner Bud Selig would allow Bonds to crash his WBC party is another matter. Martinez said he didn't think that Damon would come off the roster because he could be a DH. This article is from today's NY POst.

This is still America, innocent until proven guilty. This does not reflect my opinion of Bonds and/or his alleged guilt. But we may not have to worry about the next round anyway. ..... Hey can A-Rod switch to DR if USA is eliminated? Seriously I am enjoying the games more than I thought I would.

That 2-1 win by the DR over Venzuela last night was one hell of a ballgame by any baseball standard.

Goodad, everyone was expecting the D.R. to explode with the kind of artillery that they have, and it hasn't been anything like that. Pujols has had a terrible WBC, which shows you how most of these guys have not found their form yet, as in the case of the USA. Tonight Puerto Rico faces Cuba and the USA Japan. Let's cross our fingers and hope both PR and USA come through!

I agree with Johnny. No way I want that cheater added to the roster.Commishioner Landis got rid of the Black Sox after they were found INNOCENT in court. He knew what happened there and Selig knows what happened here.

Phil, I know that in America you're innocent until proven otherwise, but morally speaking, rather than legally, this guy has no place in the US squad. If he has any pride, he would not think about it, and if MLB, call it the Commish's office, has any, they would not consider this guy that has caused so much distraction to the game, to don that uniform. Even if nothing comes out of any investigation that Selig's office may make, the damage has been done. He, along with the other4 or 5 future Hall of Famers(?) may come out clean out of all this, but to the fans they are as dirty as a sewer.
