Yankees MILB 7/18: Jasson Dominguez Stays Hot
POSTED ON JULY 18, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
The Yankees have promoted a few players. Firstly, C/1B Ben Rice is on his way to Somerset. Rice just completed a rehab stint in Tampa. Earlier this season, he was a beast for Hudson Valley. He hit .341/.559/.523 in 68 plate appearances and was likely in line for an early promotion to Somerset at that point. Rice is a 24-year-old left-handed bat.
The Yankees promoted LHP Brock Selvidge from Tampa to Hudson Valley. Only 20 years old, Selvidge pitched to a 3.38 ERA (2.75 FIP) over 77.1 innings for Tampa. His rates across the board are impressive: 28% K, 6.5% BB, and 52% GB. He was their 21st-round pick in 2021 and is not Rule 5 eligible until after 2025. Selvidge is on the same flight (bus?) as RHP Shane Gray, who will also make his way to Hudson Valley. Gray, a reliever, pitched to a 4.26 ERA (4.32 FIP) over 38 innings with a 28.7% K and 9.1% BB. The 23-year-old was chosen in the 16th round of the 2022 draft.
We will probably see more promotions in the coming days ahead.
Scranton (43-45; 9-5 in the second half) (Defeated Norfolk, 5-3)
CF Greg Allen: 1-for-3, RS, BB, K His rehab stint was moved here from Tampa. CF Brandon Lockridge: 0-for-1, K RF Everson Pereira: 1-for-5, 2 K Pereira has at least one hit in all eight games since his promotion. The most recent five of those games are 1-hit affairs, but he is still hitting .371/.405/.543. C Carlos Narvaez: 2-for-4, RBI, BB, K, SB (2) Narvaez increases his hitting streak to five. 3B Andres Chaparro: 2-for-5, HR (18), 2 RBI, RS In July, Chaparro is 15-for-44 (.341) with 3 HR and 16 RBI. 1B Jake Lamb: 1-for-4 DH Jamie Westbrook: 1-for-2, HR (13), RBI, RS, 2 BB, K The veteran is hitting .295/.391/.506 in 277 PA. LF Michael Hermosillo: 2-for-4, 2B (3), RS SS Jesus Bastidas: 1-for-4, RS, K, SB (6) .261/.322/.430 in 276 PA. Bastidas has a .752 OPS this season after a .750 mark with Somerset in 2022. 2B Wilmer Difo: 0-for-1, SF, RBI, 2 BB
RHP Jhony Brito: (W, 2-1) 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, HR LHP Matt Krook: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K 1.05 ERA (25.2 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 3 ER, 0 HR, 18 BB, 46 K). I would love to see Krook get an extended MLB opportunity. RHP Aaron McGarity: 0.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, HR RHP Zach Greene (S, 1): 0.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Somerset (49-34; 7-8 in the second half) (Lost to Hartford, 7-5)
SS Trey Sweeney: 1-for-5, 3B (2), 3 RBI, K If you are going to have a one-hit night, may as well make it a 3-run triple. Sweeney is hitting .245/.363/.425 in 366 plate appearances. CF Jasson Dominguez: 2-for-5, HR (12), RBI, RS, K Dominguez has four straight multi-hit games (six multi-hit games in his last seven games played). He is up to .220/.358/.383 in 363 plate appearances (27.3% K; 17.6% BB). After games of July 6th, he was hitting .198/.341/.343. C Austin Wells: 1-for-5 Wells is 11-for-50 in July (.220). I would rather not see that, but he still doesn’t belong here. 1B T.J. Rumfield: 0-for-2, RS, 3 BB, 2 K .217/.320/.446 in 284 plate appearances. LF Elijah Dunham: 0-for-3, BB, HBP, K 3B Tyler Hardman: 1-for-3, 2B (9), RS, BB, 2 K RF Aaron Palensky: 0-for-3, RS, BB, 2 K Palensky is hitting .187/.372/.374 in 121 plate appearances at this level. DH Josh Breaux: 0-for-4, K Breaux is 4-for-20 at this level after going 1-for-10 with Scranton. 2B Max Burt: 0-for-2, RBI, RS, BB, HBP, K, SB (10)
RHP Matt Sauer: (L, 1-2) 3.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K Sauer needed 75 pitches to get those ten outs. The good part of that sentence is that he is being stretched out to 75 pitches after spending most of the first half on the shelf. LHP Josh Maciejewski: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K RHP Blas Castano: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, HR LHP Lisandro Santos: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, HR 2.74 ERA (46 IP, 27 H, 23 R, 14 ER, 2 HR, 32 BB, 49 K)
Hudson Valley (48-37; 9-10 in the second half) (Lost to Brooklyn, 7-4)
CF Spencer Jones: 2-for-4, HR (11), RBI, RS, K .267/.341/.476 in 328 PA (20 doubles, 4 triples, 11 HR, 42 RBI, 43 R, 32 BB (9.8%), 101 K (30.8%), 21-for-29 SB). Jones is 12-for-34 in July with eight walks. 2B Ben Cowles: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K, SB (8) Cowles is a perfect 8-for-8 stealing bases (14-for-20 in 2022) C Agustin Ramirez: 1-for-4, 2 K 6-game hitting streak. Since promotion: .407/.439/.685 in 57 PA DH Rafael Flores: 0-for-4, 2 K LF Christopher Familia: 1-for-3, BB, K SS Alexander Vargas: 1-for-4, 3B (4), RS .213/.260/.348 in 288 PA (10 doubles, 4 triples, 6 HR, 34 RBI, 35 R, 17 BB, 76 K, 10-for-15 SB) 1B Spencer Henson: 1-for-4, RBI, RS, K RF Grant Richardson: 1-for-4, 3B (2), RBI, RS, K 3B Eduardo Torrealba: 0-for-4
RHP Tyrone Yulie: (L, 4-6) 5 IP, 6 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 2 HR 4.48 ERA (70.1 IP, 53 H, 44 R, 35 ER, 11 HR, 40 BB, 84 K) LHP Joel Valdez: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K RHP Harrison Cohen: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K Since promotion: 2.78 ERA (22.2 IP, 19 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 2 HR, 9 BB, 30 K) RHP Carlos Gomez: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Tampa (42-43; 11-8 in the second half) (Won a crazy one against Lakeland, 17-11)
SS Jared Serna: 2-for-5, HR (18), 3 RBI, 3 RS, BB, K Serna has four home runs and 13 RBI in his last four games. Overall, he is hitting .290 with 18 doubles, 1 triple, 18 HR, 64 RBI, and 62 runs scored. An incredible season. 3B Jesus Rodriguez: 2-for-6, 2 RBI, 2 RS, K Rodriguez has three multi-hit games in his last four games played. He is up to .294 and has hit for average in his entire short career (tonight was his 163rd career game). He is only 21 and won’t turn 22 until next April. 2B Brenny Escanio: 3-for-3, 2 2B (7), 2 RBI, 3 RS, 2 BB Escanio only had three hits all month entering tonight. Baseball! Anyway, reaching base five times in a game is always a special night. C Omar Martinez: 2-for-5, 2B (8), HR (9, grand slam), 4 RBI, 2 RS Martinez has homered in four of his last five games and has back-to-back 4-RBI efforts. He has done a solid job drawing walks this season (14.8% BB) and is now showing off some power in July. CF Daury Arias: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, RS, BB DH Brett Barrera: 2-for-5, RBI, 2 RS, 2 K The Stanford product hasn’t been able to get much going since being drafted in the 8th round of the 2022 draft. A 2-for-28 start to 2023 put him in an instant hole. An injury in June held him back as well. LF Jake Palmer: 0-for-4, RBI, RS, BB 1B Beau Brewer: 1-for-4, RBI, 2 RS, BB, SB (2) RF Felix Negueis: 0-for-4, RBI, RS, BB, K
RHP Sean Hermann: 2.1 IP, 0 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K A rain delay in the third inning derailed his outing – the two runners that were on base prior to the delay ended up scoring. In other words, I think he deserves a pass. RHP Yorlin Calderon: 2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K 3.12 ERA (49 IP, 41 H, 20 R, 17 ER, 4 HR, 13 BB, 62 K). After an extended stretch of awesomeness, he has allowed runs in each of his last three appearances. No need for concern. RHP Alex Bustamante: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K LHP Geoffrey Gilbert: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 2 K RHP Cole Ayers: (W, 2-1) 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K Ayers did an outstanding job calming this game down. He has a 3.79 ERA in 38 IP with a 52/13 K/BB. RHP Montana Semmel: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K Semmel’s Low-A debut. He was drafted back in 2019 out of high school – a kid whose development was altered by the lost COVID season and an injury that kept him out for 2021.
FCL Yankees (16-11)
Their game against the Blue Jays was postponed. They will try to make it up on July 25th.
DSL Yankees (19-10) (Lost to DSL Colorado, 12-6)
CF Brando Mayea: 0-for-3, RS, BB RF Jose Castro: 1-for-4, HR (2), 4 RBI, RS, K A grand slam for the 17-year-old, who is hitting .291/.444/.436 in 72 plate appearances. DH Josue Gonzalez: 1-for-4, K Gonzalez (hitting .440) is on a 6-game hitting streak. 1B Luis Ogando: 1-for-3, 2B (8), HBP, K, SB (8) 2B Luis Escudero: 2-for-4, RBI, RS The 17-year-old is hitting .278/.441/.444 in 93 plate appearances.
DSL Bombers (12-17) (Lost to Arizona Black, 2-1)
DH Gabriel Terrero: 0-for-4, K CF Gabriel Lara: 1-for-4 2B Abrahan Ramirez: 1-for-3, RBI, SB (4) .288/.419/.390 in 74 PA
RHP Michell Chirinos: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 K

Yankees MILB 7/19: Spencer Jones Goes Yard
POSTED ON JULY 19, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
Nothing to report.
Scranton (43-46; 9-6 in the second half) (Lost to Worcester, 11-5)
CF Greg Allen: 1-for-5, HR (3), 3 RBI, RS, K, CS (1) He has one home run for Scranton (hit two as a member of the Worcester roster earlier this season) RF Everson Pereira: 1-for-4, RS, BB Pereira has at least one hit in all nine games since his promotion (14-for-39) C Carlos Narvaez: 1-for-4, RS Narvaez now has a 6-game hitting streak (7-for-23) 3B Andres Chaparro: 1-for-3, BB, K 1B Jake Lamb: 0-for-2, RBI, 2 BB Lamb is 4-for-17 with a pair of doubles and four walks since signing. DH Jamie Westbrook: 0-for-3, RBI, CI LF Michael Hermosillo: 1-for-4, 2 K SS Jesus Bastidas: 2-for-4, RS 2B Wilmer Difo: 2-for-4, RS, K
LHP Tanner Tully: (L, 5-4) 4 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 K LHP Anthony Misiewicz: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K RHP Deivi Garcia: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K 4.74 ERA (38 IP, 36 H, 22 R, 20 ER, 6 HR, 27 BB, 38 K) LHP D.J. Snelten: 0 IP, 1 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 0 K This is not one for the scrapbook. RHP Michael Gomez: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Somerset (49-35; 7-9 in the second half) (Lost a tough one to Hartford, 10-9. Hartford scored three in the 9th to earn the win)
SS Trey Sweeney: 1-for-5, 2B (16), 2 RBI, RS, BB, 2 K, SB (13) A night after hitting a 3-run triple, Sweeney contributes a 2-run double. He has seven RBI in his last three games and is hitting .244 with 16 doubles, 2 triples, 12 HR, 45 RBI, 54 runs, and 13 stolen bases in 19 attempts. LF Jasson Dominguez: 0-for-5, K This snaps his stretch of four straight 2-hit games. Now the goal is to not let it snowball. C Austin Wells: 0-for-4, RS, HBP, 3 K Wells is 11-for-54 in July. 3B Tyler Hardman: 2-for-4, RS, BB, K, CS (3) 1B T.J. Rumfield: 2-for-4, 2 RBI, HBP Rumfield, who had some terrible BABIP luck in the first half, is 7-for-18 with three doubles since the break. CF Elijah Dunham: 2-for-4, 3 RS, 3 SB (6) Dunham is hitting .306 (11-for-36) since his demotion. Overall, he has 18 stolen bases in 23 attempts. DH Ben Rice: 2-for-5, 2 RBI, RS, K Rice earns his first two Double-A hits in his Somerset debut. 2B Mickey Gasper: 2-for-4, RBI, RS, BB RF Jeisson Rosario: 3-for-5, 2B (7), RS, K, SB (8) Rosario’s second 3-hit game this season.
RHP Blane Abeyta: 5.1 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, HR 5.87 ERA (79.2 IP, 84 H, 54 R, 52 ER, 10 HR, 35 BB, 88 K) RHP Jesus Liranzo: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, HR RHP Tanner Myatt: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, HR RHP Alex Mauricio: (L, 1-2) 0.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, HR
Hudson Valley (49-37; 10-10 in the second half) (Defeated Brooklyn, 6-4)
CF Spencer Jones: 1-for-4, HR (12), RBI, RS, K Jones has homered in back-to-back games and owns a .267/.340/.483 line over 332 PA. I love baseball: Before these two home runs, he hadn’t homered since June 18th. There’s hope for Anthony Rizzo! Anyway, he is 11-for-34 in July with eight walks. 2B Ben Cowles: 1-for-3, 2 RS, BB, K DH Agustin Ramirez: 1-for-3, RS, BB He continues to maintain his .400+ average since his promotion (23-for-57; .404). His hitting streak is up to seven (11-for-27). 1B Rafael Flores: 2-for-4, 2B (12), HR (3), 4 RBI, 2 RS, 2 K .290/.359/.381 in 281 PA. He is listed at 6’4″, 220 so I have wondered in the past if the Yankees think he will grow into some pop. Regardless, he signed as an undrafted free agent last year so anything they get is a bonus. C Antonio Gomez: 0-for-4, 3 K SS Alexander Vargas: 1-for-4, RBI, K .214/.260/.347 in 292 PA. He has shown marginal improvement from his 2022 stat line, but is nowhere near his encouraging 2021 season down in the FCL. LF Anthony Garcia: 0-for-3, BB RF Aldenis Sanchez: 0-for-4 3B Marcos Cabrera: 0-for-3, K
RHP Brendan Beck: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, HR Beck finally gives up his first professional run. In five starts, he owns a 0.66 ERA over 14.2 IP (7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 HR, 3 BB, 17 K). Before you ask: He is averaging less than three innings per start because he is just coming back from an injury. RHP Shane Gray: 3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, HR High-A debut. RHP Jack Neely (W, 5-2): 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K 2.68 ERA (40.1 IP, 24 H, 14 R, 12 ER, 4 HR, 14 BB, 64 K)
Tampa (42-44; 11-9 in the second half) (Lost to Clearwater, 8-7. By the way, Clearwater has been a beast in 2023. The Threshers are 58-27)
SS Jared Serna: 1-for-3, 2 RS, 2 BB, K, CS (6) .290/.354/.509 in 373 PA. Serna has scored at least one run in ten straight contests and has 64 RBI and 64 runs scored. When does he get a taste of Hudson Valley? He should get there for at least a little while before the season comes to a close. C Jesus Rodriguez: 2-for-4, 2B (14), RBI, RS, BB Rodriguez is up to .297/.375/.442 in 286 PA (14 doubles, 2 triples, 6 HR, 35 RBI, 43 R, 31 BB, 43 K, 13-for-15 SB). He has three straight multi-hit games (four of his last five games) 2B Brenny Escanio: 0-for-3, RS, 2 BB, 2 K, CS (6) 1B Omar Martinez: 1-for-3, SF, RBI, RS, BB, 2 K .243/.364/.413 in 261 PA. He is 14-for-47 (.298) in July with four home runs and 16 runs batted in. CF Daury Arias: 0-for-3, 2 BB, 3 K 3B Brett Barrera: 0-for-4, SF, RBI, BB, 2 K LF Jake Palmer: 0-for-2, RBI, RS, 2 BB DH Ronny Rojas: 1-for-4, HR (7), 2 RBI, RS, 2 K Rojas has three home runs in his last five games. RF Felix Negueis: 0-for-3, RBI, BB, K
RHP Justin Lange: 3.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 7 K, 2 HR 5.28 ERA (58 IP, 38 H, 38 R, 34 ER, 7 HR, 49 BB, 92 K) RHP Matt Keating: 2.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 K RHP Adam Stone (L, 1-3): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K RHP Osiel Rodriguez: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K He pitched here in 2022, so this is not his Low-A debut. According to BaseballSavant, he hit 93 MPH on the one sinker he threw. Signed back in 2018 for over $600,000, he is only 21 years old.

Yankees MILB 7/20: Everson Pereira Goes Boom!
POSTED ON JULY 20, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
Both Jake Bauers (Scranton) and Willie Calhoun (Somerset) started their rehab assignments, meaning the Yankees have three mediocre left fielders (along with Greg Allen) who are nearing their return. Yay us!
RHP Matt Bowman opted out of his minor league contract the other day. Today, the Yankees signed him to a major league contract and optioned him to Scranton. To make room for Bowman on the 40-man roster, 3B Josh Donaldson was transferred to the 60-day injured list, effectively ending his season.
Scranton (43-47; 9-6 in the second half) (Lost a marathon to Worcester, 10-8)
LF Jake Bauers: 2-for-3, 2B (6), HR (10), 2 RBI, 2 RS, BB, SB (6) Welcome back! LF Michael Hermosillo: 0-for-0, SF, RBI CF Everson Pereira: 2-for-4, HR (2), 2 RBI, 2 RS, BB, K Pereira has hit safely in all ten games since his promotion (.372 (16-for-43; 3 doubles, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 11 R)). Overall, he has 12 home runs and 42 RBI in 56 games between Somerset and Scranton. C Ben Rortvedt: 0-for-2 PH-C Rodolfo Duran: 0-for-2, BB, K 1B Andres Chaparro: 2-for-5, 2B (18), 2 RBI, 2 K Chaparro has 18 RBI in 13 July games and is hitting .253/.340/.485 in 377 PA with 18 doubles, 18 HR, and 67 RBI. 3B Jake Lamb: 0-for-4, BB, 2 K 2B Jamie Westbrook: 1-for-2, RS, 3 BB SS Jesus Bastidas: 1-for-5, RS, 3 K RF Brandon Lockridge: 1-for-4, 2 RS, BB, K DH Wilmer Difo: 0-for-5, 2 K
RHP Randy Vasquez: 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K Vasquez has a 5.21 ERA at this level, but does it really matter? He has impressed at the level that matters most. RHP Zach Greene: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K RHP Aaron McGarity: 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K RHP Matt Bowman: 1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 2 HR This is not how one wishes to celebrate their addition to the 40-man roster. RHP Greg Weissert: (L, 3-3) 1.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, HR
Somerset (50-35; 8-9 in the second half) (Defeated Hartford, 6-4, in 11 innings)
SS Trey Sweeney: 2-for-5, 2B (17), K Sweeney has two doubles and a triple in his last three games. DH Willie Calhoun: 0-for-3, K PH Josh Breaux: 0-for-1 PR-DH Aaron Palensky: 0-for-1, RS CF Jasson Dominguez: 1-for-5, RBI, RS, 2 K C Austin Wells: 0-for-4, HBP, K His July struggles continue. My question is: Would Wells’ offense be better if they told him to not worry about catching anymore? That’s not an excuse for a slump – that is me saying that it isn’t easy to put in all the work behind the plate while maintaining what you can do at the plate. 3B Tyler Hardman: 3-for-5, 2 HR (22), 4 RBI, 2 RS, K Hardman, who has four multi-HR games this season, is your new organizational HR leader, taking the spot away from Estevan Florial. He is hitting .227 with 9 doubles, 2 triples, 22 HR, 45 RBI, and 46 runs scored. RF Elijah Dunham: 1-for-5, HR (2), RBI, RS, K Dunham is hitting .293 (12-for-41) since his demotion. His home run tonight was his 8th overall between here and Scranton. 1B Eric Wagaman: 1-for-3, HBP, CS (3) PH-1B Mickey Gasper: 0-for-1, K 2B Max Burt: 1-for-4, 2B (4), K LF Jeisson Rosario: 0-for-3, RS, BB, K
RHP Chase Hampton: 7 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 3 HR A bit of a mixed bag by Hampton, who allowed a pair of home runs during a tough 6th inning. Since his promotion: 4.15 ERA (34.2 IP, 31 H, 17 R, 16 ER, 5 HR, 9 BB, 40 K). Overall, he now has 117 strikeouts in 81.2 innings. LHP Ryan Anderson: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K RHP Danny Watson: (W, 3-0) 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K Since promotion: 1.47 ERA (18.1 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 HR, 7 BB, 19 K). In his first seven innings at this level, he struck out only three hitters. He has 16 K in 11.1 IP since. RHP Zac Houston (S, 2): 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Hudson Valley (49-37; 10-10 in the second half) (Defeated Brooklyn, 6-4)
CF Spencer Jones: 1-for-4, RBI, BB Jones is now 12-for-38 in July with nine walks. SS Alexander Vargas: 0-for-4, K C Agustin Ramirez: 3-for-4, 2B (10), HR (3), RBI, RS Since his promotion: .426 in 15 games (10 doubles, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 9 R, 3 BB, 8 K). He is on an 8-game hitting streak (14-for-31). Overall, he is hitting .290/.401/.482 in 297 PA (17 doubles, 10 HR, 46 RBI, 44 R, 46 BB, 49 K). Is he the organization’s top catching prospect? I guess that depends on what you think of Austin Wells, but Ramirez must be in the conversation. DH Christopher Familia: 0-for-4, K 1B Spencer Henson: 1-for-3, 2B (13), BB, K, CS (2) LF Grant Richardson: 1-for-2, HR (9), RBI, RS, 2 BB, K RF Aldenis Sanchez: 0-for-4, 2 K 3B Eduardo Torrealba: 1-for-4, RS, K, SB (7) 2B Luis Santos: 0-for-2, 2 BB, SB (5), CS (3)

Tampa (42-45; 11-10 in the second half) (Lost a pitching duel to Clearwater, 1-0)
SS Jared Serna: 2-for-4, K Serna is now 20-for-65 (.308) in July. He is up to 100 hits this season (.292/.355/.509) 3B Jesus Rodriguez: 1-for-4, K Rodriguez now has a 6-game hitting streak (10-for-27; .370). He is hitting .296/.374/.439 in 290 impressive plate appearances. C Omar Martinez: 2-for-4 Martinez has three multi-hit games in his last four games. He is 16-for-51 (.314) in July with four home runs and 16 runs batted in. FCL Yankees (18-12) (Swept a doubleheader against the Tigers)
Game 1 (Won, 2-1)
2B Keiner Delgado: 1-for-3, 3B (1), RBI, RS, BB, K .280/.397/.508 in 141 PA. If you loved Delgado after 2022, you should still love him now. One thing to watch: He owned a 50.5% ground ball rate entering today (it was 28.8% in 2022) SS Roderick Arias: 0-for-2, 2 BB, 2 K, 2 SB (16), CS (6) DH Hans Montero: 0-for-1, 2 BB, K, SB (14) 3B Enmanuel Tejeda: 0-for-2, BB, K, CS (4) .319/.492/.479 in 128 PA (2 doubles, 2 triples, 3 HR, 19 RBI, 26 R, 28 BB, 28 K, 17-for-21 SB) RF Willy Montero: 0-for-2, BB LF Dayro Perez: 0-for-1, RS, HBP, SB (7)

He supposedly can get it up to 100 MPH – and that was before entering the Yankees Pitching Factory. RHP Jordy Luciano (S, 1): 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K His first career save. Congrats!
Game 2 (Won, 9-4)
DH Roderick Arias: 1-for-4, RBI, RS, 2 K, SB (17) Arias only went 1-for-6 today, but it was still a productive afternoon. He is hitting .267/.423/.505 in 130 PA (2 doubles, 2 triples, 6 HR, 26 RBI, 32 R, 27 BB (20.8%), 29 K (22.3%), 17-for-23 SB) SS Hans Montero: 0-for-3, RS, HBP .294/.478/.500 in 138 PA. In 140 PA down in the DSL last year, he hit only .180/.345/.261. Something has clicked. CF Willy Montero: 3-for-4, 2B (7), 2 RBI, RS, SB (2), CS (3) .318/.374/.455 in 123 PA. He didn’t fare well in his 2021 debut season but started earning a little buzz in 2022. This year, he is building off that.
RHP Cam Schlittler: 3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 4 K 2.89 ERA (18.2 IP, 16 H, 9 R, 6 ER, 1 HR, 11 BB, 22 K RHP Hueston Morrill (W, 1-0): 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K This is the 22-year-old’s professional debut. He was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma State in June 2022.
DSL Yankees (20-10) (Knocked off Mets Blue, 7-6)
DH Brando Mayea: 2-for-4, RS, BB, K, SB (14) Mayea’s .267/.396/.387 triple slash has to be considered a success in his debut season. Entering today, he had a 60% ground ball rate – which he has plenty of time to grow out of. LF Jose Castro: 1-for-5, 2B (3), 2 RBI, RS, K, SB (7) C Josue Gonzalez: 0-for-4, RBI, RS, K 3B Luis Ogando: 1-for-5, RS, 2 K, SB (9) .346/.446/.556 in 101 PA. This is after hitting .300/.417/.440 in 121 PA at this same level last year. SS Anthony Pena: 2-for-4, 2B (4), 2 RBI, RS, 2 K .318/.412/.545 in 51 PA. LF Andry Javier: 1-for-3, 2 RS, BB

SS Kevin Verde: 3-for-5, 2B (6), RS, K Verde also had a 3-hit game on 7/17.
RHP Joshawn Lampson: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, HR

Yankees MILB 7/21: Spencer Jones Collects 3 Hits
POSTED ON JULY 21, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
C Austin Wells was promoted to Scranton today, and instantly placed in the cleanup spot.
Wells, the Yankees’ first-round pick in the 2020 COVID draft, hit .248/.343/.460 in 113 Double-A games with 22 doubles, 1 triple, 23 HR, and 93 RBI. Whether he can stick behind the plate is still a matter of debate.
Scranton (43-47; 9-6 in the second half) (Lead Worcester, 4-0, in the 4th. The game was suspended due to a power outage. They will conclude this tomorrow afternoon (playing out the entire 9 innings) before a 7-inning nightcap)
CF Greg Allen: 0-for-1, RS, HBP DH Jake Bauers: 2-for-2, 2B (7), RS LF Everson Pereira: 0-for-2, 2 K C Austin Wells: 1-for-1, RS, BB Triple-A debut. 3B Andres Chaparro: 0-for-1, BB 1B Carlos Narvaez: 1-for-2, HR (8), 2 RBI, RS, K 2B Jamie Westbrook: 0-for-0, RBI, BB, CI, CS (4) RF Brandon Lockridge: 0-for-2 SS Wilmer Difo: 0-for-1, K
RHP Will Warren: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K Warren was throwing well, but his outing will be cut short. At this level: 4.39 ERA (41 IP, 36 H, 26 R, 20 ER, 8 HR, 20 BB, 44 K)
Somerset (51-35; 9-9 in the second half) (Crushed Hartford, 9-2)
SS Trey Sweeney: 1-for-5, RBI, RS, K Sweeney increases his hitting streak to five (8-for-25; 2 doubles, 1 triple, 8 RBI). CF Jasson Dominguez: 1-for-5, RBI, RS, K .216/.349/.371 in 378 PA (8 doubles, 2 triples, 12 HR, 46 RBI, 60 R, 64 BB, 103 K, 25-for-29 SB). There is still plenty of time to go, but I wonder how his season will be judged when all is said and done. 3B Tyler Hardman: 1-for-3, HR (23), 2 RBI, RS, 2 BB, 2 K A new career best (23 HR in 71 games this year; 22 in 111 games last year). Hardman hits his bombs in bunches. He hit home runs in three straight games in early June and had a stretch where he hit six home runs in six games (including three in one game). While he has enough pop to make it to the big leagues, it is the strikeouts that are a problem: 101 in 302 PA (33.4%). 1B T.J. Rumfield: 1-for-5, 2 K RF Elijah Dunham: 1-for-5, HR (3), RBI, RS, K Dunham has homered in back-to-back games and has hit safely in nine of his last ten games. DH Ben Rice: 2-for-5, RS Rice has back-to-back 2-for-5 efforts to begin his Double-A journey. LF Aaron Palensky: 1-for-5, 2B (6), RS, K C Josh Breaux: 1-for-4, HR (2), 2 RBI, RS, BB, 2 K Breaux is 5-for-25 at this level. Overall, in 23 games, he is hitting .191/.250/.303. 2B Max Burt: 2-for-2, 2B (5), RBI, 2 RS, 2 BB .268/.358/.500 at this level.
RHP Yoendrys Gomez: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K 1.26 ERA (28.2 IP, 15 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 HR, 17 BB, 34 K). He is throwing very well in his limited spurts. Tonight, he tossed 57 pitches. LHP Edgar Barclay: (W, 3-1) 4.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, HR 1.20 ERA (30 IP, 23 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 HR, 10 BB, 45 K). Barclay hadn’t allowed a home run since September 15, 2021. He tossed 67.1 homerless innings in 2022. You are looking at a legit swingman type of prospect here who can probably start, pitch in the middle innings, and even give you some late-inning production. You are probably thinking about guys like Ramiro Mendoza or Alfredo Aceves, etc. LHP Josh Maciejewski: 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Hudson Valley (49-38; 10-11 in the second half) (Lost to Brooklyn, 8-7)
CF Spencer Jones: 3-for-5, 2B (21), RBI, 3 RS, SB (22) Jones has nine 3+ hit games this season. He is 15-for-43 (.349) in July (2 doubles, 2 HR, 9 RBI, 9 R, 10 BB, 9 K, 4 SB) SS Ben Cowles: 1-for-4, 2B (12), SF, RBI C Rafael Flores: 0-for-1, 3 BB, HBP Flores collects his first career 3-BB game. RF Christopher Familia: 3-for-5, 2B (3), 2 RBI, RS Familia has been struggling a bit since his promotion, so this game was needed. He is now 14-for-63 (.222; 3 doubles, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 9 R). Overall, he has 10 doubles, 2 triples, 12 HR, 38 RBI, and 34 runs scored in 36 games between here and Tampa. DH Antonio Gomez: 0-for-5, 4 K 1B Spencer Henson: 1-for-5, HR (10), RBI, RS, K Henson ties his personal best for HR in a season (61 games this year; 71 games in 2022). Overall, he has 28 HR and 98 RBI in 160 career games. LF Anthony Garcia: 0-for-4, RS, BB, 3 K 2B Eduardo Torrealba: 1-for-3, 2B (5), RS, BB, HBP 3B Marcos Cabrera: 1-for-5
LHP Brock Selvidge: 4.2 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K It wasn’t a spectacular High-A debut, but he battled to keep runs off the board. RHP Luis Velasquez: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 K LHP Clay Aguilar: 1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, HR 3.98 ERA (20.1 IP, 16 H, 10 R, 9 ER, 10 BB, 31 K) RHP Carlos Gomez: (L, 2-3) 1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 1 K RHP Harrison Cohen: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Tampa (42-46; 11-11 in the second half) (Lost to Clearwater, 7-0. After a pair of slugfests, Tampa hasn’t scored a run in the last two games)
2B Jared Serna: 1-for-4, BB, SB (17) This is Serna’s first stolen base since June 20th. It was only his second attempt this month. Just one of those weird things. Serna is 21-for-69 (.304). He hit .310 in April, .305 in May, and .263 in June (though that came with five home runs and 21 RBI). Just remarkable consistency. 3B Jesus Rodriguez: 0-for-4, K .292/.369/.432 in 294 PA. His 6-game hitting streak is snapped. C Omar Martinez: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K .244/.364/.409 in 269 PA. He is 16-for-54 (.296) in July with four home runs and 16 RBI. SS Brenny Escanio: 0-for-3, HBP Escanio draws walks (52; .335 OBP) but hasn’t done enough in the contact department. The Yankees took him as a lottery ticket from the Brewers for J.P. Feyereisen. CF Daury Arias: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K DH Brett Barrera: 0-for-1, 2 HBP PR-DH Beau Brewer: 0-for-1 LF Jake Palmer: 1-for-3, BB 1B Ronny Rojas: 0-for-4, 2 K RF Felix Negueis: 1-for-3, BB
RHP Leonardo Pestana: (L, 0-4) 2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K 4.87 ERA (40.2 IP, 38 H, 23 R, 22 ER, 7 HR, 21 BB, 54 K). This is his new personal best for innings in a season – beating the mark he set in 2019. Injuries, injuries, injuries. By the way, the Yankees are unlikely to give up on this kid, as he is pumping upper-90s fastballs. RHP Ocean Gabonia: 2.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 0 K RHP Yorlin Calderon: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K 3.00 ERA (51 IP, 41 H, 20 R, 17 ER, 13 BB, 64 K). Calderon doesn’t throw hard, but he does have a starter’s arsenal (sinker, slider, change, curve). RHP Montana Semmel: 1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
FCL Yankees (18-13) (Lost to the Tigers, 4-3, in ten innings)
DH Keiner Delgado: 2-for-4, RBI, RS, BB, 2 SB (20) Delgado has ten multi-hit games (29 games played). SS Hans Montero: 0-for-5, 4 K It happens to everyone…. RF Willy Montero: 0-for-4, BB, K 3B Enmanuel Tejeda: 1-for-5, RBI, 2 K CF John Cruz: 1-for-4, HR (6), RBI, RS, 2 K Cruz, still only 17, has 11 home runs in 52 minor league games. LF Joel Mendez: 3-for-4, 2B (4)
RHP Luis Serna: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K 7.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 HR, 4 BB, 10 K. The important thing is that he is showing signs of being back on track after missing a vast majority of the season. RHP Anderson Munoz: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K The 24-year-old is on a rehab assignment. He has made it as high as High-A Hudson Valley, where he pitched to a 4.41 ERA in 32.2 innings last season (48/12 K/BB) LHP Miguel Pozo: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K RHP Steven Fulgencio (L, 0-1): 2 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K The 22-year-old was signed all the way back in 2018, but didn’t make his debut until 2022.
DSL Yankees (20-10) (Lost to DSL Tampa Bay, 8-3)
CF Brando Mayea: 1-for-4, BB Mayea is 9-for-41 in July, but has walked 12 times. SS Santiago Gomez: 0-for-3, RS, BB, 2 K 1B Jhon Imbert: 0-for-1, 3 BB 3B Luis Ogando: 3-for-4, 2B (9), HR (4), 2 RBI, 2 RS, SB (10) Ogando is a 19-year-old right-handed bat who has played in 58 games at this level over the last two seasons (.330/.406/.519 in 226 PA)
RHP Yordanny Sosa: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K Sosa pitched in 12 games back in his 2019 debut season, posting a 2.21 ERA (though that came with a 9/12 K/BB ratio), Then, he disappeared for four years and is back now. Injuries suck.
DSL Bombers (15-17) (Destroyed DSL Miami, 12-1. Talk about a bunch of baserunners: They compiled 13 hits and 14 walks while Miami commited three errors. This game had real 28-1 DSL potential. Trust me, stuff like that has happened before at this level!)
SS Ovandy Frias: 3-for-5, RBI, 2 RS, BB, 2 K, 3 SB (10) Have yourself a morning/afternoon, Ovandy! It is hard to find much out there on the 19-year-old, who is in his debut season. C Johan Contreras: 3-for-5, 2B (3), 4 RBI, RS, BB, K, CS (1) The 18-year-old right-handed bat hit very well in his debut 2022 season but has yet to repeat that in 2023. Perhaps today is the start of something good. CF Geyber Blanco: 3-for-5, 2 2B (11), 2 RBI, K I pay close attention when 17-year-olds start raking in their debut season. So far, Blanco is doing that: .333/.405/.480 with 11 doubles in 84 plate appearances. He was just signed back in February. DH Abrahan Ramirez: 1-for-2, 2 BB, K The 18-year-old left-handed bat is hitting .314/.442/.446 in 45 games at this level going back to last season. RF Luis Puello: 1-for-3, 2B (2), 2 RS, 2 BB, K 1B Johan Ferreira: 1-for-3, HR (1), 2 RBI, 3 RS, 2 BB, 2 K, SB (5) Ferreira is already 20 years old. This is his first professional home run!
RHP Daniel Guerrero: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 6 K RHP Mariano Salomon (W, 2-1): 4.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K He is 20 years old but this is his first professional season. Salomon has a 40/6 K/BB ratio over 29.1 innings. LHP Luis Urbano: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K

Yankees MILB 7/22: Drew Thorpe Ks 13
POSTED ON JULY 22, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
UTIL Oswaldo Cabrera is on his way back to Scranton. The Yankees have tried to send him down a few times before, only for injuries to interfere with their plans. Hence, he has played only two games at Triple-A, going 1-for-6 with a walk.
Scranton (44-48; 10-7 in the second half) (Split two games with Worcester)
Game 1 (Won, 8-3. This was the conclusion of last night’s suspended game, so they played out the entire nine innings)
CF Greg Allen: 0-for-1, RS, HBP RF Michael Hermosillo: 0-for-2, RBI, HBP, K DH Jake Bauers: 2-for-2, 2B (7), RS DH Estevan Florial: 1-for-3, 2 K LF Everson Pereira: 1-for-5, 2 RBI, K He has hit safely in all 11 games since his promotion. Rumfield: 2-for-5, HR (16), 3 RBI, 2 RS, K .224/.324/.457 in 299 PA. He has 16 HR in 299 PA this year after hitting four in 344 PA prior to this season. C Ben Rice: 4-for-5, 2B (1), 2 HR (2), 4 RBI, 2 RS Rice is 8-for-15 in three games since his promotion. He has ten multi-hit efforts this season (28 games). Overall, he is hitting .351 (33-for-94; 6 doubles, 6 HR, 26 RBI, 26 R, 23 BB, 21 K, 4-for-4 SB). You can’t just assume that a hitter would stay hot if they stayed healthy but it is too bad Rice missed so much time. 2B Mickey Gasper: 0-for-3, 2 BB DH Josh Breaux: 0-for-5, 2 K 3B Max Burt: 0-for-5, K CF Jeisson Rosario: 1-for-4, 2B (8)

In 11 starts since: 2.54 ERA (67.1 IP, 55 H, 20 R, 19 ER, 14 BB, 72 K) RHP Alex Mauricio: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K 4.02 ERA (31.1 IP, 31 H, 15 R, 14 ER, 4 HR, 11 BB, 33 K) LHP Lisandro Santos: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
Hudson Valley (50-38; 11-11 in the second half) (Shut down Brooklyn, 3-0)
CF Spencer Jones: 1-for-4, 2B (22), 2 RBI, 3 K .272/.344/.485 in 346 PA (22 doubles, 4 triples, 12 HR, 46 RBI, 47 R, 33 BB, 105 K, 22-for-30 SB). His K% is 30.3. He will need to cut that down, but we have to accept that a kid with his size is going to strike out. Don’t just focus on that, though. He is showing off solid power and can be a sneaky base stealer. 3B Ben Cowles: 1-for-3, HBP, 2 K, 2 SB (10), CS (1) DH Agustin Ramirez: 0-for-3, BB, SB (1) This snaps his 8-game hitting streak though he still has a 9-game on-base streak. Ramirez is 26-for-64 (.406) since his promotion. 1B Rafael Flores: 0-for-3, 2 K LF Christopher Familia: 1-for-4, HR (2), RBI, RS Familia follows up his 3-hit effort last night with a home run tonight. Adjusting? SS Alexander Vargas: 0-for-3 C Antonio Gomez: 0-for-3, 2 K RF Aldenis Sanchez: 1-for-3, RS, 2 K 2B Luis Santos: 1-for-2, RS, HBP, K, SB (6)
RHP Drew Thorpe: (W, 10-1) 8 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 13 K 2.08 ERA (99.1 IP, 69 H, 27 R, 23 ER, 6 HR, 31 BB, 124 K). The conspiracy theorist could say that the Yankees are keeping him here to keep his value up. While I can see that happening, an opposing thought could be that he would be worth even more if he went to Double-A and put together a strong effort. Whatever the case is, this is the reality: He does not belong here. These hitters have no chance against him and everyone needs to see how he can do against more advanced competition. RHP Jack Neely (S, 5): 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K Neely is also in line for a promotion. He owns a 2.61 ERA in 41.1 IP (25 H, 14 R, 12 ER, 4 HR, 14 BB, 66 K)
Tampa (42-46; 11-11 in the second half)
Their game against Clearwater was postponed.

3B Keiner Delgado: 2-for-5, RS .291/.404/.504 in 151 plate appearances (20-for-24 SB). He has 19 games at second base, three games at third base, and eight games at designated hitter. SS Hans Montero: 0-for-3, BB RF Willy Montero: 3-for-4, 2 RBI, K, 2 SB (4) .322/.379/.449 in 132 plate appearances. He is 4-for-7 stealing bases this year after a 16-for-20 rate in 2022. DH Enmanuel Tejeda: 0-for-3, BB
LHP Henry Lalane: 2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K The 6’7″ 19-year-old has a 4.70 ERA in only 7.2 IP (6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 9 K) RHP Edward Sanchez: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K The 22-year-old, listed as a shortstop, makes his professional debut on the hill. LHP Allen Facundo: 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K 2.00 ERA (18 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 0 HR, 11 BB, 25 K) RHP Sebastian Keane: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K 1.59 ERA (17 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 1 HR, 8 BB, 25 K). Hopefully, they get his feet wet in Tampa before the season ends.
DSL Yankees (21-11) (Shut down the DSL Twins, 3-0. This was mundane for a DSL game)
CF Jose Castro: 0-for-2, RBI, RS, 2 HBP, K DH Luis Suarez: 1-for-3, RS, 2 K, SB (13) The 18-year-old has flashed his speed in his 59-game career (29-for-34 SB) but hasn’t yet shown off a hit tool. C Josue Gonzalez: 0-for-2, BB, K .393/.576/.714 in 85 PA (10 doubles, 1 triple, 2 HR, 20 RBI, 19 R, 23 BB, 10 K) 3B Anthony Pena: 1-for-3, K .319/.407/.532 in 54 PA SS Jelson Coca: 1-for-3, 2B (3), RS
RHP Joshua Quezada (W, 4-0): 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K 4.39 ERA (26.2 IP, 26 H, 15 R, 13 ER, 2 HR, 12 BB, 28 K). This is the 19-year-old’s debut season. RHP Stanly Alcantara (S, 2): 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 1 K 2.03 ERA (13.1 IP, 11 H, 11 R, 3 ER, 0 HR, 19 BB, 6 K). If any line can define a DSL pitcher, this might be it!
DSL Bombers (16-17) (Defeated the Cardinals, 9-2)
CF Richard Meran: 0-for-0, 2 RS, 2 BB, SB (1) Meran’s first career stolen base is of home plate. He left the game early – not sure why. 2B Gabriel Terrero: 0-for-4, RS, BB, K C Edgleen Perez: 2-for-3, 2B (3), RS, 2 BB RF-CF Gabriel Lara: 2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 RS, 2 K .287/.415/.489 in 118 plate appearances (5 doubles, 1 triple, 4 HR, 23 RBI, 21 R, 20 BB, 18 K, 12-for-16 SB). This is a successful debut season for the 17-year-old. DH Ramiro Altagracia: 2-for-4, RS, BB, 2 K SS Kevin Verde: 1-for-5, 2B (7), 3 RBI, CS (1) .258/.319/.371 in 69 plate appearances in his debut season.
RHP Alejandro Gomez (W, 3-1): 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K 3.62 ERA (32.1 IP, 27 H, 18 R, 13 ER, 1 HR, 10 BB, 25 K) RHP Dari Brito: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K

Yankees MILB 7/26: Agustin Ramirez is on Fire
POSTED ON JULY 26, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
Nothing to report.
Scranton (45-50; 11-9 in the second half) (Lost to Buffalo, 14-2)
LF Estevan Florial: 1-for-5, HR (22), RBI, RS, 2 K His leadoff blast put the Railriders up 1-0 – it was downhill from there. He is on a 6-game hitting streak and is hitting .327/.424/.571 in July. SS Oswaldo Cabrera: 1-for-4, K CF Everson Pereira: 0-for-4, 3 K DH Austin Wells: 1-for-3, 2B (2), RS, BB, K Overall season: .233/.323/.431 in 303 PA (16 doubles, 12 HR, 53 RBI, 32 R, 34 BB, 71 K, 5-for-5 SB) RF Franchy Cordero: 2-for-4, K C Carlos Narvaez: 1-for-2, SF, RBI, BB Narvaez now has a 10-game hitting streak (12-for-36; .333) 1B Jake Lamb: 1-for-4 2B Jesus Bastidas: 0-for-4, 2 K .255/.318/.412 in 296 PA. Starts: 35 at SS; 30 at 2B; 8 at 3B. 3B Wilmer Difo: 0-for-2, 2 BB, K
LHP Tanner Tully (L, 5-5): 2.2 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 3 BB, 0 K RHP Aaron McGarity: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K RHP Deivi Garcia: 2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K 4.97 ERA (41.2 IP, 43 H, 25 R, 23 ER, 7 HR, 29 BB, 41 K) RHP Zac Houston: 2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, HR
Somerset (54-36; 12-10 in the second half) (Lost to Bowie, 6-5)
SS Trey Sweeney: 1-for-5, 2 K Sweeney now has a 9-game hitting streak. DH Willie Calhoun: 1-for-5 LF Jasson Dominguez: 0-for-4, BB, 2 K 3B Tyler Hardman: 0-for-2, RS, 2 BB, 2 K I am not sure if Hardman will ever have a low strikeout rate – so adding in some value through walks will be imperative if he wants to reach his big-league potential. CF Elijah Dunham: 0-for-4, K C Ben Rice: 0-for-3, RS, BB, K Since promotion: 10-for-20 (1 double, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 6 R, 2 BB, 2 K) 1B Mickey Gasper: 2-for-4, 2B (4), RBI, RS, K 2B Max Burt: 3-for-3, 2 2B (7), 2 RBI, 2 RS, BB Burt has four doubles in his last five games. RF Jeisson Rosario: 2-for-4, 2B (9), 2 RBI, K
RHP Chase Hampton: 5 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 BB, 8 K, HR 4.54 ERA since his promotion (39.2 IP, 35 H, 21 R, 20 ER, 6 HR, 14 BB, 48 K). Overall, he owns a 125/30 K/BB over 86.2 IP. It is easy to forget that this is Hampton’s first professional season. RHP Tanner Myatt: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K RHP Alex Mauricio: 1.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K 4.09 ERA (33 IP, 34 H, 16 R, 15 ER, 4 HR, 12 BB, 34 K) LHP Josh Maciejewski: (L, 0-2) 1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, HR
Hudson Valley (52-39; 13-12 in the second half) (Shut down Hickory, 7-0)
CF Spencer Jones: 1-for-5, 2B (23), RS, K, SB (23) Jones now has a 7-game hitting streak that features three doubles and a pair of home runs. He is hitting .275/.345/.484 in 357 PA with a 29.97% K rate. 2B Ben Cowles: 1-for-4, RS, HBP, 2 K, SB (12) DH Agustin Ramirez: 2-for-4, HR (6), RBI, 2 RS, BB, K Ramirez has homered in three straight games and in four of his last five contests. He has ten multi-hit games in 19 games since his promotion. Just pure dominant play and I can see him getting his feet wet in Somerset this year if he keeps this up. He is what you would call an exploding prospect at 21 years old. LF Christopher Familia: 1-for-4, HR (4), 4 RBI, RS Familia has homered in three straight games and has 15 home runs and 44 RBI in 39 games between here and Tampa. SS Alexander Vargas: 0-for-4, K 1B Spencer Henson: 1-for-3, HR (11), RBI, RS, BB Henson sets a new personal best for HR in a season (he has 21 HR in 134 games over the last two seasons) C Antonio Gomez: 3-for-4, K I know following prospects can often turn into a “flavor of the month” but Ramirez has moved ahead of Gomez on the catching depth chart, I assume. That said, Gomez is a no-doubt-about-it catcher who still has time to grow. He is hitting .243/.307/.343. While he is Rule 5 eligible, it is highly doubtful anyone will touch him. RF Aldenis Sanchez: 1-for-4, HR (2), RBI, RS 3B Marcos Cabrera: 0-for-3, BB, K
RHP Brendan Beck: 3.1 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K Beck loaded the bases with nobody out at one point…struck out the next two hitters before inducing a popup. At this level: 0.60 ERA in 15 IP (13 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 HR, 3 BB, 16 K) RHP Luis Velasquez (W, 1-1): 3.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K Since promotion: 3.63 ERA (17.1 IP, 14 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 HR, 13 BB, 20 K) RHP Jack Neely: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K With Danny Watson and Bailey Dees up in Somerset, Neely must be wondering when it will be his turn. He owns a 2.28 ERA in 43.1 IP (24 H, 14 R, 11 ER, 4 HR, 16 BB, 67 K)
Tampa (44-48; 13-13 in the second half) (Knocked out Dunedin, 8-2)
2B Jared Serna: 0-for-3, RS, 2 BB .287/.356/.493 in 399 PA. C Jesus Rodriguez: 1-for-5, SB (14) .296/.368/.434 in 311 PA. His offensive production has been consistent throughout 2023. As for the catching thing, I am not sure what the Yankees think of him behind the plate. They move him around the field, though 3B has been his other primary position. 1B Omar Martinez: 2-for-5, 2B (10), HR (11), 2 RBI, 2 RS .250/.367/.438 in 286 PA (10 doubles, 1 triple, 11 HR, 44 RBI, 38 R, 42 BB, 80 K). SS Brenny Escanio: 1-for-3, RS, 2 BB, K CF Daury Arias: 1-for-3, 2 RS, BB, K LF Jake Palmer: 3-for-4, 2 RBI, RS, K Palmer has three 3-hit games in July. DH Ronny Rojas: 1-for-3, SF, 2 RBI RF Felix Negueis: 0-for-2, RS, BB, HBP 3B Jose Colmenares: 0-for-2, 2 BB, K, CS (1)
RHP Justin Lange: (W, 1-3) 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 10 K This is the kind of line you dream of with Lange – because if he ever unlocks himself, this is his potential. Anyway, he now owns a 4.92 ERA in 64 IP (44 H, 39 R, 35 ER, 7 HR, 51 BB, 102 K) RHP Montana Semmel: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K Semmel hit 95.6 on the gun tonight. RHP Cole Ayers: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K 3.98 ERA (40.2 IP, 40 H, 21 R, 18 ER, 3 HR, 14 BB, 56 K). Ayers threw five different pitches in his short outing (sinker, 4-seam, cutter, slider, change).
FCL Yankees (19-14)
Day off.
DSL Yankees (22-13) (Lost the completion of a suspended game to the Blue Jays, 7-2. The game ended after only five innings)
I am not going to dig too much into the box score from this game – most of what happened occurred days ago.

Yankees MILB 7/27: Jasson Dominguez Collects 3 Hits
POSTED ON JULY 27, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
Both C Anthony Seigler (Somerset) and OF Anthony Hall (Tampa) returned from lengthy injury list stays today. Seigler is readded to the upper-level catcher mix, where the Yankees have several prospects competing for playing time.
Scranton (46-50; 12-9 in the second half) (Defeated Buffalo, 5-1)
LF Estevan Florial: 1-for-5, 2B (15), RBI, RS, BB, 2 K Florial has a 7-game hitting streak (9-for-27). He has four doubles and a homer during the streak. SS Oswaldo Cabrera: 1-for-4, RBI, 2 RS, BB, K, SB (1) The only thing he can do is perform down here and earn his way back. C Austin Wells: 2-for-4, BB Wells is hitting .286 (6-for-21) with two doubles and two walks since his promotion. 3B Andres Chaparro: 2-for-4, BB, K Chaparro is 22-for-68 (.324) in July with 11 walks. DH Franchy Cordero: 2-for-5, 2 RBI, K 2B Jamie Westbrook: 1-for-2, RS, 3 BB, K 1B Rodolfo Duran: 0-for-4, BB RF Michael Hermosillo: 1-for-4, BB, 3 K CF Brandon Lockridge: 2-for-5, RBI, RS, K, SB (10) Lockridge is 10-for-11 stealing bases at this level and 27-for-30 overall. He is 14-for-43 (.326) in July.
RHP Randy Vasquez: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K 5.04 ERA (69.2 IP, 73 H, 43 R, 39 ER, 8 HR, 39 BB, 80 K). Just like with Jhony Brito, his numbers down here don’t concern me. RHP Zach Greene: 2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K RHP Matt Bowman: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K RHP Greg Weissert: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
Somerset (55-36; 13-10 in the second half) (Defeated Bowie, 4-3, in ten innings)
SS Trey Sweeney: 1-for-3, RS, 2 BB, K Sweeney now has a 10-game hitting streak and has 14 walks in July. His hit tool is legit. RF Willie Calhoun: 1-for-5, K LF Jasson Dominguez: 3-for-5, RBI, K, SB (27) Dominguez is now at a season-high .223 (correct – he has not been above .223 all season) thanks to his first 3-hit game since May 16th. He is 26-for-84 (.310) in July. 3B Tyler Hardman: 0-for-4, RS, BB, 3 K 1B Ben Rice: 0-for-4, BB, K 10-for-24 with three walks and two strikeouts since his promotion. 2B Max Burt: 0-for-3, K 2B Mickey Gasper: 1-for-2, RBI Walk-off single in the 10th. DH Anthony Seigler: 0-for-3, RS, BB Seigler’s first game since June 25th. C Josh Breaux: 3-for-4, 2B (2), HR (3), 2 RBI, RS His 2-run HR with one out in the 9th tied the game. CF Jeisson Rosario: 0-for-3, BB, K, SB (9)
RHP Yoendrys Gomez: 2.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, HR 1.72 ERA (31.1 IP, 18 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 2 HR, 20 BB, 36 K) LHP Edgar Barclay: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K 1.32 ERA (34 IP, 26 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 1 HR, 11 BB, 51 K) RHP Danny Watson: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K Since promotion: 1.31 ERA (20.2 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 HR, 8 BB, 24 K). The dominance is so overwhelming that you wonder if a trip to Scranton is in the cards. They can replace him with Jack Neely here. RHP Jesus Liranzo: (W, 1-0) 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K A much-needed dominant effort for Liranzo.
Hudson Valley (52-40; 13-13 in the second half) (Lost to Hickory, 6-5)
CF Spencer Jones: 0-for-5, K SS Ben Cowles: 1-for-5, K C Agustin Ramirez: 2-for-4, HR (7), RBI, 2 RS Ramirez has homered in four straight games and has three straight multi-hit games (11 since his promotion). He is hitting .402/.449/.780 in 89 PA since his promotion and .293/.402/.515 in 321 PA overall. He has to be on the list of Yankees breakout prospects in 2023. 1B Rafael Flores: 2-for-3, HR (4), 2 RBI, 2 RS, BB Flores has quietly hit .295/.375/.392 in 305 PA. He has three consecutive multi-hit games. I guess much of his prospect value will be dependent on whether he is capable behind the plate or if he is a 1B-only type. RF Anthony Garcia: 1-for-3, HR (6), 2 RBI, RS, BB, 2 K Garcia has homered in back-to-back games and has drawn at least one walk in five straight games. DH Antonio Gomez: 0-for-4, 4 K LF Grant Richardson: 2-for-4, K 3B Eduardo Torrealba: 1-for-4, K 2B Luis Santos: 1-for-4, K
RHP Zach Messinger: 5.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, HR 4.09 ERA (83.2 IP, 73 H, 49 R, 38 ER, 12 HR, 42 BB, 101 K). For Tampa last year, in the same exact number of innings, he pitched to a 4.30 ERA with a 112/45 K/BB ratio. He allowed seven fewer home runs. LHP Joel Valdez: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, HR LHP Clay Aguilar (L, 3-1): 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
Tampa (45-48; 14-13 in the second half) (Defeated Dunedin, 6-5, on a walk-off single/error)
2B Jared Serna: 0-for-5, RBI One is shocked when Serna puts up an 0-for-5, but at least he drove in a run (66th this season) 3B Jesus Rodriguez: 2-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 RS, SB (15) He keeps flirting with .300 (including going over that mark during the game). He is on a 5-game hitting streak and has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games. The 15-for-17 SB rate is an added bonus. C Omar Martinez: 1-for-5, SB (8) CF Anthony Hall: 0-for-2, SF, RBI Hall, hitting .269/.382/.448 in 241 PA, plays in his first game since July 4th. CF Daury Arias: 1-for-2, K He hit the single in the 9th that scored Rodriguez on an error. SS Brenny Escanio: 0-for-3, BB RF Tayler Aguilar: 0-for-2, 2 K RF Felix Negueis: 1-for-1, HR (2), RBI, RS, BB A nice job off the bench. DH Brett Barrera: 1-for-3, RS, BB LF Jake Palmer: 0-for-2, RS, 2 BB 1B Beau Brewer: 2-for-4, RS

FCL Yankees (20-14) (Defeated the Blue Jays, 6-2)
2B Keiner Delgado: 1-for-4, RS .287/.394/.485 in 160 successful plate appearances. He has 20 stolen bases and is maintaining a BB/K ratio over 1.00 (21/19). 3B Enmanuel Tejeda: 1-for-4, 3B (3), RBI, RS .315/.483/.472 in 145 PA (.289/.463/.493 in 188 PA in the DSL in 2022). His BB/K ratio is exactly 1.00 (31/31) CF Willy Montero: 0-for-4, K .333/.386/.452 in 140 PA. Montero is 23-for-57 (.404) in July. Even with today’s 0-for, he has ten hits in his last five games. SS Hans Montero: 1-for-3, RS, BB, 2 K .265/.445/.444 in 155 PA. After a red-hot start, he is slumping in July (.160/.333/.200) but his overall line remains strong. RF John Cruz: 2-for-3, RS, BB .256/.343/.487 in 134 PA. Cruz has an impressive 7 HR and 32 RBI in 31 games. LF Jose Mendez: 1-for-4, HR (1), RBI, RS The 20-year-old is no stranger to the home run, hitting 12 HR in 108 games down in the DSL. C Manuel Palencia: 1-for-4, RBI, RS DH Juan Sanchez: 2-for-4, 2B (1), 2 RBI Sanchez (20) has only five plate appearances this season. He is l isted as a catcher. 1B Kelvin Espino: 1-for-3
RHP Luis Serna: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K 6.30 ERA (10 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 HR, 5 BB, 13 K) RHP Jordarlin Mendoza (W, 3-0): 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 K RHP Jordy Luciano: 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K RHP Steven Fulgencio: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K RHP Sebastian Keane: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K 1.50 ERA (18 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 1 HR, 9 BB, 26 K). Just get him to Tampa already.
DSL Yankees (22-13) (Lead LAD Bautista, 4-1, in the second inning. The game was suspended at that point. I don’t see a completion date listed. By the way, LAD Bautista is 30-6)
CF Brando Mayea: 1-for-2 DH Josue Gonzalez: 1-for-1, 2B (11), RS The double isn’t official (yet) but it would be his 11th in 21 games.
DSL Bombers (18-18) (Destroyed Rangers Blue, 17-6, in a rain-shortened (7 innings) affair)
CF Richard Meran: 0-for-0, HBP He left the game after the HBP. PR-RF Abrahan Ramirez: 1-for-2, 2 RBI, 2 RS, 3 BB, 2 SB (6) Not bad for someone who wasn’t scheduled to play… C Edgleen Perez: 2-for-4, 2B (6), 2 RBI, 2 RS, 2 BB RF-CF Gabriel Lara: 2-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 RS .278/.398/.454 in 133 PA (5 doubles, 1 triple, 4 HR, 25 RBI, 25 R, 21 BB, 22 K, 12-for-16 SB). Yankees MILB 7/28: Tyler Hardman’s Big Night
POSTED ON JULY 28, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
The Yankees have their reasons for everything but I am befuddled by how Oswald Peraza is being handled. That’s all I am going to say about that (I said enough about it on Twitter).
Scranton (46-51; 12-10 in the second half) (Lost to Buffalo, 12-2)
CF Estevan Florial: 3-for-4, 2B (16), 2 RBI, BB, CS (10) Florial, who is hitting .301 with a .990 OPS, has five 3+ hit games this season. He has four doubles and a homer in his last five games (8-game hitting streak) SS Oswaldo Cabrera: 0-for-5, K RF Everson Pereira: 3-for-5, 2B (4), 2 K Pereira is hitting .343 with a .971 OPS since his promotion (4 doubles, 4 HR, 17 RBI). He does have 20 strikeouts in 72 PA (27.8%). C Austin Wells: 1-for-4, BB, 2 K Wells is hitting .280 (7-for-25) since his promotion with four walks and ten strikeouts. DH Andres Chaparro: 0-for-2, RS, 2 BB 1B Carlos Narvaez: 0-for-4, 3 K 3B Jake Lamb: 2-for-3, RS, BB, K 2B Jesus Bastidas: 1-for-4 LF Brandon Lockridge: 1-for-3, BB, K
RHP Will Warren: (L, 4-4) 3 IP, 7 H, 9 R, 7 ER, 6 BB, 2 K A rough night for Warren spikes his ERA to 5.52 at this level (44 IP, 43 H, 35 R, 27 ER, 8 HR, 26 BB, 46 K) RHP Michael Gomez: 2.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 K LHP Anthony Misiewicz: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, HR RHP Zac Houston: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Somerset (56-36; 14-10 in the second half) (Blasted Bowie, 10-0)
SS Trey Sweeney: 1-for-5, RBI, RS, K, SB (14) 11-game hitting streak. Sweeney had a .765 OPS in Hudson Valley (100 games) and now owns a .789 OPS for Somerset (98 games) DH Jasson Dominguez: 1-for-5, 2 RBI, RS, K, SB (28) Dominguez is not only hitting in July – he is frisky on the basepaths. He is now 10-for-13 stealing bases this month. 3B Tyler Hardman: 4-for-4, 2 HR (26), SF, 6 RBI, 3 RS Not only is Hardman leading the Yankees organization in home runs, but he is also tied in the overall minor league lead (entering tonight, Shay Whitcomb (AAA, HOU) also had 26 home runs). Additionally, the six RBI sets a new personal best. Overall, Hardman is hitting .236/.328/.561 in 326 PA (9 doubles, 2 triples, 26 HR, 55 RBI, 55 R, 39 BB, 109 K, 9-for-12 SB). He had a 3-hit game on July 19th as well.
LHP Nestor Cortes: 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K He appears to be on track to get back into the rotation soon. LHP Ryan Anderson: (W, 1-0) 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K LHP Lisandro Santos: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K 2.63 ERA (48 IP, 28 H, 23 R, 14 ER, 2 HR, 33 BB, 52 K). He is a hard-throwing lefty with a lot of control issues. RHP Bailey Dees: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K Double-A debut is a clean enough one. RHP Blas Castano: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Hudson Valley (53-40; 14-13 in the second half) (Mauled Hickory, 11-2)
CF Spencer Jones: 1-for-4, 2B (24), RS, BB, K, SB (24) Jones has four doubles and three stolen bases in his last six games. LF Christopher Familia: 2-for-5, HR (5), RBI, RS, 3 K Familia has homered in four straight games and has 16 HR and 45 RBI in 40 games between here and Tampa. In his last 9 games: 13-for-37 (.351) with four home runs and nine runs batted in. DH Agustin Ramirez: 1-for-4, RS, BB Ramirez decided to let his teammates do most of the heavy lifting tonight. He is on a 5-game hitting streak (has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games) and is hitting .395 since his promotion. C Rafael Flores: 0-for-3, 2 RS, 2 BB, 2 K SS Alexander Vargas: 2-for-4, HR (7), 4 RBI, 2 RS, BB, K Vargas has two 4-RBI games in his last three games played. It would be nice to see him get on a late-season surge. 1B Spencer Henson: 1-for-4, RS, HBP, K RF Aldenis Sanchez: 1-for-4, HR (3), 2 RBI, 2 RS, BB, K Obviously not known for his power, Sanchez has homered in back-to-back games. 2B Luis Santos: 0-for-4, RBI, BB, 3 K 3B Marcos Cabrera: 2-for-5, HR (6), 3 RBI, RS, 2 K
LHP Brock Selvidge: (W, 1-0) 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K Absolutely brilliant performance in his second High-A start. Between here and Tampa, he now owns a 101/24 K/BB over 88.2 IP. There is little to complain about in his 2023 profile. RHP Shane Gray: 2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
Tampa (45-48; 14-13 in the second half)
The game against Dunedin was postponed. They will try their best to play two tomorrow. The starting lineup was posted and is below.
SS Jared Serna: 0-for-0 Serna is hitting .283/.351/.486 (125 wRC+; 9.2% BB, 16.3% K) in 404 PA. He is 19-for-25 stealing bases. While Serna is playing a lot of shortstop, I have yet to read a report that suggests that will be his future gig. It doesn’t hurt to give him a lot of reps there, of course. 3B Jesus Rodriguez: 0-for-0 Rodriguez is hitting .297/.368/.434 (120 wRC+; 9.8% BB, 14.2% K) in 316 PA. He is 15-for-17 stealing bases. C Omar Martinez: 0-for-0 Martinez is hitting .249/.364/.433 (120 wRC+; 14.4% BB, 27.5% K) in 291 PA. You have to like the ability to take walks but the strikeout rate will need to come down somewhat. CF Daury Arias: 0-for-0 .233/.328/.343 in 323 PA (89 wRC+; 11.8% BB, 20.1% K) in 323 PA. DH Tayler Aguilar: 0-for-0 2B Brett Barrera: 0-for-0 LF Jake Palmer: 0-for-0 1B Beau Brewer: 0-for-0 RF Felix Negueis: 0-for-0

LHP Henry Lalane: 3.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, HR The 6’7″ 19-year-old has a 14/1 K/BB over 11 innings. RHP Eric Reyzelman: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K The hard thrower hopefully won’t be here for long. LHP Allen Facundo (W, 4-0): 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K 1.64 ERA (22 IP, 11 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 0 HR, 11 BB, 30 K).

CF Brando Mayea: 1-for-4, RBI, RS, SB (16) C Jose Gonzalez: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K After a .462/.633/.808 start, Gonzalez has “shockingly” dipped to .375/.558/.656. 1B Jhon Imbert: 0-for-2, 2 BB, 2 K, SB (12) The 19-year-old is hitting .307/.459/.560 in 98 PA with 12 stolen bases in 13 attempts. Imbert is officially listed as a shortstop but has never played a game there professionally.
RHP Joshua Quezada: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K 3.98 ERA (31.2 IP, 29 H, 17 R, 14 ER, 2 HR, 14 BB, 35 K)
DSL Bombers (18-19) (Lost to the DSL Marlins, 7-4)
CF Richard Meran: 1-for-4, 2 BB, K, CS (1) 3B-2B Gabriel Terrero: 1-for-3, 2B (7), RBI, RS, 2 BB, HBP, SB (12) .319/.413/.574 in 109 PA (7 doubles, 1 triple, 5 HR, 21 RBI, 24 R, 13 BB, 21 K, 12-for-16 SB) RF Gabriel Lara: 0-for-2, HBP, 2 K 2B-RF Geyber Blanco: 1-for-2, RBI, RS, 3 HBP Ouch! By the way, he moved to RF after Lara left the game (I assume due to the HBP)

Yankees MILB 7/29: Everson Pereira Homers
POSTED ON JULY 29, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
Two debuts today down in the FCL today. You will see what they did below (one hit a home run in his first game – always fun to see).
Scranton (46-52; 12-12 in the second half) (Lost to Buffalo, 14-7. They lost 12-2 last night. Time for a colon cleanse)
CF Estevan Florial: 0-for-5, 3 K Florial’s 8-game hitting streak is snapped. SS Oswaldo Cabrera: 2-for-5, 2B (1), HR (1), 3 RBI, 2 RS, K Nice night for Cabrera…. RF Everson Pereira: 2-for-5, 2B (5), HR (5), 3 RBI, RS, 2 K Since promotion: .347/.390/.625 in 77 PA (5 doubles, 5 HR, 20 RBI, 14 R, 3 BB, 22 K). Overall: .308/.370/.570 in 262 PA (15 doubles, 1 triple, 15 HR, 51 RBI, 38 R, 22 BB, 76 K, 7-for-9 SB). Where should Pereira be right now? It is easy to say to give the kid a chance in the big leagues. I don’t think the Yankees are doing that after 77 PA – but he is displaying a lot of pop in his first taste of Triple-A after showing more than enough pop in Double-A. One part of your brain is screaming at you to be patient while the other one screams “I WANT TO SEE THIS KID, DARNIT!” C Austin Wells: 1-for-5, 3 K Wells is hitting .267 (8-for-30) since his promotion. The issue is the 13 K in 35 PA (37.1%). It’s a small early sample size, of course. 3B Andres Chaparro: 0-for-3, BB .249/.343/.476 in 405 PA. LF Franchy Cordero: 0-for-2, HBP LF Brandon Lockridge: 1-for-1, RS Lockridge is at .295/.362/.400 in 105 PA at this level. He has a 6-game hitting streak. DH Carlos Narvaez: 0-for-3, BB, K 1B Jake Lamb: 1-for-4, RBI, K 2B Jamie Westbrook: 2-for-3, 2 RS, 2 BB
RHP Clayton Beeter: (L, 1-2) 3.2 IP, 8 H, 11 R, 11 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, 3 HR Beeter entered tonight with a 3.26 ERA since his promotion. It is now 7.04 (23 IP, 23 H, 19 R, 18 ER, 6 HR, 13 BB, 25 K). What can you do? Sometimes, it simply isn’t your night. It is always important to note that, in an MLB setting, Beeter isn’t giving up 11 runs tonight. They would have pulled him at some point. In MILB, they want him to get his pitches in and evaluate. It doesn’t excuse the poor outing – it is just a different mindset sometimes when it comes to player development. RHP Aaron McGarity: 2.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K RHP Deivi Garcia: 2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 2 HR 5.36 ERA (43.2 IP, 47 H, 28 R, 26 ER, 9 HR, 29 BB, 43 K). The baseball gods gave the Yankees a free extra year to evaluate him and it hasn’t gone well. He’s earned some extra service time at least – and will get a fresh start in 2024.
Somerset (57-36; 15-10 in the second half) (Defeated Bowie, 10-3)
SS Trey Sweeney: 0-for-5, 2 K Sweeney’s 11-game hitting streak is snapped. CF Jasson Dominguez: 3-for-5, 2 2B (10), 2 RBI, RS Dominguez is 30-for-94 (.319) in July. You can pick any prospect you wish in this system – Dominguez remains the one you want to see explode a bit. Even if he isn’t a Juan Soto-level unicorn, he can still become a top-of-the-order force for years to come. Nobody in the system has the combination of upside + closeness to MLB that he does. 3B Tyler Hardman: 1-for-3, RBI, RS, BB, HBP, K C Ben Rice: 1-for-5, HR (4), 2 RBI, RS, K Since promotion: .379 (11-for-29; 1 double, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 7 R, 3 BB, 3 K). Rice has 8 HR and 32 RBI in 32 games overall in 2023 and still has more walks (26) than strikeouts (23) LF Elijah Dunham: 2-for-4, HR (5), RBI, 2 RS, 2 K, SB (11) Dunham has certainly not pouted since his demotion, given he has five home runs and 11 stolen bases in 17 games. 1B Mickey Gasper: 1-for-2, RS, BB, HBP, K, 2 SB (4) 2B Max Burt: 0-for-3, RS, BB,3 K RF Aaron Palensky: 0-for-2, SF, RBI, RS, HBP, K DH Jeisson Rosario: 1-for-2, 2B (12), 3 RBI, 2 RS, 2 BB Rosario has eight doubles in his last 11 games.
RHP Richard Fitts: (W, 7-5) 6 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 10 K, 2 HR Fitts’ third 10-K game this season. He owns a 3.80 ERA in 106.2 IP (96 H, 46 R, 45 ER, 17 HR, 26 BB, 118 K). You have to love his ability to pound the strike zone though it can get him in trouble when he catches too much of the plate. He has a good upside as a bulldog starting pitcher – which sometimes feels like a lost art in the modern game. LHP Josh Maciejewski: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K RHP Alex Mauricio: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K 3.97 ERA (34 IP, 35 H, 16 R, 15 ER, 12 BB, 35 K)
Hudson Valley (53-42; 14-14 in the second half) (Lost to Hickory, 8-6, in a 5-inning game. They battled back from a 6-0 deficit but the rain got in the way)
DH Spencer Jones: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, K, SB (25) .270/.340/.474 in 371 PA (24 doubles, 4 triples, 12 HR, 49 RBI, 50 R, 34 BB, 110 K, 25-for-33 SB) 2B Ben Cowles: 1-for-4, 2B (13), RBI, K .251/.340/.399 in 315 PA with a 12-for-13 SB rate. 1B Rafael Flores: 0-for-1, 2 BB .290/.370/.386 in 312 PA. LF Christopher Familia: 0-for-1, 2 BB, K Since promotion: .259/.302/.481 in 86 PA. After the games of July 20th, he was hitting .190/.217/.276 at this level. I would say an adjustment was made, eh? Overall, Familia is hitting .329/.392/.707 in 181 PA with 16 HR and 45 RBI. So, where does he fit in the prospect puzzle? I would be surprised if the midseason MLB Pipeline list doesn’t have him somewhere on the Yankees’ midseason list. He has shown enough bat to get attention. SS Alexander Vargas: 0-for-3, 2 K RF Anthony Garcia: 1-for-2, HR (7), RBI, 2 RS, BB, K, SB (3) Garcia has homered in three straight games. He is hitting .197/.317/.364 in 205 PA with 31 walks (15.1%) and 75 strikeouts (36.6%). He is known as a three outcomes prospect – but he has been unable to get the K% down to any kind of reasonable rate (plus, you need at least a bit of a hit tool in the lower minors even if one projects it won’t be there in the majors) C Antonio Gomez: 1-for-2, RS, BB, K CF Grant Richardson: 1-for-3, RS, 2 K, SB (12) 3B Eduardo Torrealba: 1-for-1, 2 RBI, 2 RS, 2 BB, SB (7) Torrealba has a little 5-game hitting streak going and is hitting .280/.376/.344 at this level.
RHP Drew Thorpe: (L, 10-2) 4 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 3 HR This was bound to happen at some point, right? He was on the kind of roll that hardly anyone can sustain forever. Anyway, this jumps his ERA from 2.08 to 2.70 (103.1 IP, 78 H, 35 R, 31 ER, 9 HR, 32 BB, 128 K). He allowed eight total runs in his last nine starts entering tonight (four runs in his last eight starts). One start doesn’t kill a prospect’s value if indeed Thorpe is being discussed in trades. It is simply bad timing. RHP Carlos Gomez: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K
Tampa (45-50; 14-15 in the second half) (Swept in a doubleheader by Dunedin)
Game 1 (Lost, 13-1. We shall just put this one in the shredder, eh?)
SS Jared Serna: 0-for-3, 2 K C Jesus Rodriguez: 0-for-2, BB, K .295/.368/.431 in 319 PA. He doesn’t have the “prospect pedigree” of others so it is hard to find a good, detailed scouting report. If he continues to hit, we’ll start seeing those scouting reports. The best I can find is from Fangraphs back in 2021 when he was on their list of “other guys we like” with a mention of liking his defense behind the plate. For Tampa, as I have mentioned, he has played C/1B/3B/LF. 1B Omar Martinez: 0-for-3, K CF Daury Arias: 0-for-3, 2 K DH Tayler Aguilar: 0-for-3, 3 K 2B Brett Barrera: 0-for-2, BB LF Jake Palmer: 0-for-3 3B Ronny Rojas: 1-for-2, HR (8), RBI, RS, K Tampa’s only hit goes over the fence. Rojas has four home runs in July (.244/.273/.537) RF Felix Negueis: 0-for-1, BB, K
RHP Leonardo Pestana: (L, 0-5) 0.2 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 0 K As I said last week, the Yankees are not likely to give up on a kid throwing in the mid-to-upper 90s. Today just wasn’t his day. RHP Alex Bustamante: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K RHP Kris Bow: 2.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K Bow is struggling, but you have to keep throwing him out there. You just never know when things will click. RHP Cole Ayers: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
Game 2 (Lost, 6-3. They loaded up the bases in the 9th but could only muster one run)
DH Jared Serna: 0-for-3, BB, K .278/.348/.478 in 411 PA. His average hasn’t been this low since he was hitting .267 after games of April 25th. Whenever something like this happens with Serna, he seems to bounce right back. I do worry a little about a “full season wall” – he compiled 204 PA in 2022. SS Brenny Escanio: 0-for-4, K C Omar Martinez: 2-for-3, 2B (11), 2 RS, BB .251/.366/.434 (.800 OPS) in 298 PA. He is 24-for-80 (.300/.380/.588) in July with 5 doubles, 6 HR, and 21 RBI. Nice. CF Anthony Hall: 0-for-1, 2 BB .267/.385/.446 in 244 PA. Injuries suck – but I still hope he gets to Hudson Valley soon enough. CF Daury Arias: 0-for-0, BB Hall is still essentially rehabbing – no need to read into Arias entering the game. 3B Ronny Rojas: 1-for-3, RBI, BB LF Jake Palmer: 0-for-2, 2 BB 1B Beau Brewer: 0-for-2, RBI, 2 BB, K 2B Jose Colmenares: 1-for-4, HR (3), RBI, RS, K RF Felix Negueis: 0-for-2, BB, 2 K
RHP Hayden Merda: (L, 1-5) 4 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K RHP Matt Keating: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K 3.68 ERA (44 IP, 43 H, 24 R, 18 ER, 3 HR, 23 BB, 63 K). Keating threw five different pitches tonight but focused mainly on his slider and 4-seam fastball. He maxed out at 94.3.
FCL Yankees (22-14) (Beat up on the Tigers, 11-4. I say “beat up,” but it was close for a while. The Yankees scored four runs in the 8th and 9th)
SS Keiner Delgado: 2-for-3, RS, BB, K, SB (22), CS (5) Delgado was pulled early – not sure why. He is on a 10-game hitting streak (14-for-38; .368). His 22 stolen bases are at the top of the league, four ahead of Jhonson Pena (PIT). PH-SS Hans Montero: 1-for-2, 2B (6), K While it isn’t likely, it is possible that they wanted to split this game between Delgado and Montero. I would be able to wager that Montero was scheduled to get a full day and something (hopefully minor) happened with Delgado. 3B Enmanuel Tejeda: 0-for-4, RS, BB, 2 K CF Willy Montero: 1-for-5, 2 K 1B Kiko Romero: 2-for-4, 2B (1), 2 RBI, 2 RS, BB, 2 K The professional debut for the 22-year-old left-handed bat. He was the Yankees’ 7th-round pick in this year’s draft out of Arizona. While it appears he played a little outfield for Central Arizona College, Arizona anchored him at first base. The offensive bar is already raised. RF John Cruz: 2-for-4, HR (8), 2 RBI, 2 RS, BB, K At 17 years old, Cruz already has eight home runs in 33 FCL games. That is serious power production at that level. LF Jared Wegner: 1-for-5, HR (1), RBI, RS Wegner, the Yankees’ 9th-round pick out of Arkansas, homers in his professional debut. The good news is that Wegner hit 15 home runs in 43 games for Arkansas this year. The bad news is that he is already 24 years old. 2B Dayro Perez: 1-for-4, RS, BB, K C Edinson Duran: 2-for-4, RS, BB DH Juan Sanchez: 2-for-5, 3B (1), HR (2), 5 RBI, 2 RS This is what you call production from the #9 hole. The 20-year-old left-handed bat is listed as a catcher. He has appeared in only four games this season.
RHP Cam Schlittler: 2.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K 2.95 ERA in 21.1 IP (17 H, 10 R, 7 ER, 1 HR, 13 BB, 24 K). The 22-year-old, part of last year’s draft class, is a 6’6″ kid out of Northeastern. LHP Edwar Polimir: 2.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K RHP Yoljeldriz Diaz (W, 1-0): 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
DSL Yankees (22-14)

DSL Bombers (18-19)

Yankees MILB 8/2: Randy Vasquez Ks 11
POSTED ON AUGUST 2, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
Nothing to report.
Scranton (48-53; 14-13 in the second half) (Defeated Rochester, 8-1)
LF Oswaldo Cabrera: 2-for-5, HR (2), 2 RBI, 3 RS Cabrera is 6-for-18 with a pair of homers in his last four games. SS Oswald Peraza: 1-for-4, RS, BB, K DH Austin Wells: 1-for-2, RBI, 3 BB, K It is nice to see Wells reach base four times. It is the first time this season he has drawn three walks (not that it is an easy feat) CF Everson Pereira: 2-for-4, 3B (1), 3 RBI, 2 RS, K Since promotion: .337/.370/.593 in 92 PA with 25 runs batted in. 3B Andres Chaparro: 2-for-4, K RF Franchy Cordero: 1-for-4, 2 RBI C Carlos Narvaez: 0-for-3, RS, BB, K 1B Jake Lamb: 0-for-3, BB, 3 K 2B Jamie Westbrook: 2-for-4, RS
RHP Randy Vasquez: (W, 3-8) 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 11 K, HR Vasquez ties his personal best (set in August 2021) for strikeouts in a game. RHP Jonathan Loaisiga: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K As long as he is feeling fine, one has to assume he will be back in pinstripes shortly. LHP Anthony Misiewicz: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K RHP Greg Weissert: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Somerset (58-38; 16-12 in the second half) (Lost to Akron, 4-2)
SS Trey Sweeney: 1-for-3, BB, SB (16) He left the game early – not sure why, though it wasn’t long after an “injury delay” following his stolen base. LF Anthony Seigler: 0-for-0, BB CF Jasson Dominguez: 2-for-5, 2 K, SB (30) Dominguez is the first Yankees’ farmhand to reach 30 stolen bases this season. Dominguez has reached .230 for the first time in 2023. LF-1B Elijah Dunham: 1-for-5, 2B (5), RS, 3 K C Ben Rice: 0-for-3, HBP 1B-3B Mickey Gasper: 1-for-3, RBI, RS, BB DH Josh Breaux: 1-for-4, 2B (3) 2B Aaron Palensky: 1-for-4, 2B (8), RBI, 2 K Palensky’s first career game at second base. RF Jeisson Rosario: 1-for-3, 2B (14), BB 3B-SS Max Burt: 1-for-4, K
RHP Chase Hampton: 5 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, HR Hampton struggled early before throwing better over his final three innings. Since promotion: 4.43 ERA (44.2 IP, 40 H, 25 R, 22 ER, 7 HR, 17 BB, 52 K). Overall, Hampton is up to 91.2 innings in his debut season. RHP Danny Watson: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K Since promotion: 1.14 ERA (23,2 IP, 10 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 HR, 9 BB, 26 K) RHP Alex Mauricio: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Hudson Valley (55-43; 16-15 in the second half) (Shut down Wilmington, 3-0)
CF Spencer Jones: 0-for-3, RS, BB, SB (26) .265/.337/.465. He is 5-for-5 stealing bases in his last nine games. 2B Ben Cowles: 1-for-3, RBI, RS, BB, CS (2) DH Agustin Ramirez: 0-for-3, BB, K Ramirez has a 17-game on-base streak. 1B Rafael Flores: 0-for-3, BB C Antonio Gomez: 0-for-4, 3 K LF Anthony Garcia: 0-for-1, SF, RBI, 2 BB, K, SB (4) SS Alexander Vargas: 0-for-4 RF Grant Richardson: 2-for-4, HR (11), RBI, RS .195/.294/.372 in 269 PA. He has homered in back-to-back games. Richardson has a .241 BABIP and can take some walks – but the hit tool has been inconsistent overall. 3B Marcos Cabrera: 1-for-4, K
RHP Baron Stuart: (W, 1-0) 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K Stuart, signed as an undrafted free agent in 2022, is impressive in his High-A debut. RHP Mason Vinyard: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K Since promotion: 3.06 ERA (17.2 IP, 15 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 1 HR, 13 BB, 18 K) RHP Harrison Cohen: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K Since promotion: 2.25 ERA (28 IP, 21 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 2 HR, 12 BB, 35 K) RHP Jack Neely (S, 6): 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K 2.14 ERA (46.1 IP, 26 H, 14 R, 11 ER, 16 BB, 70 K). How dominant is he? This is his first game without a strikeout since June 11th (13 straight games with a strikeout before tonight)
Tampa (46-51; 15-16 in the second half) (Lost to Bradenton, 3-2)
SS Jared Serna: 1-for-5, K C Jesus Rodriguez: 2-for-3, 2B (15), RS, BB .298/.375/.432. Rodriguez has been pretty consistent since Day 1. DH Anthony Hall: 1-for-4, 2B (10), RS, 2 K 1B Josh Moylan: 0-for-4, RBI, 3 K Professional debut for the undrafted Moylan. He is a 21-year-old 6’4″ left-handed bat out of East Carolina who hit .302/.412/.587 with 15 HR and 70 RBI for the Pirates this past season. The 70 RBI topped the American Athletic Conference. The Yankees signed him for a bonus of $150,000, which is $25,000 more than you can sign a player for without penalty (in this case, the $25,000 simply went against their bonus pool). In other words, this isn’t your typical undrafted free agent – there was some demand for his services. 3B Kiko Romero: 2-for-4, RBI A solid Low-A debut for this year’s 7th-round pick out of Arizona. 2B Brenny Escanio: 1-for-3, BB, K CF Daury Arias: 0-for-3, BB, K RF Jared Wegner: 0-for-4, 3 K Wegner, drafted in the 9th round out of Arkansas, is a 24-year-old right-handed bat. LF Garrett Martin: 2-for-4, K Bounces back nicely from his 0-for-5 professional debut.
RHP Justin Lange: 5 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K Last two starts: 11 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 18 K. The talent is tantalizing – can he consistently find the strike zone? He now has 110 strikeouts in 69 innings (51 walks) RHP Matt Keating: (L, 5-8) 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K 3.64 ERA (47 IP, 45 H, 25 R, 19 ER, 4 HR, 23 BB, 67 K)
FCL Yankees (24-15)
Day off.
DSL Yankees (24-14)

Yankees MILB 8/3: Brock Selvidge Tosses a Masterpiece
POSTED ON AUGUST 3, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
Nothing to report.
Scranton (49-53; 15-13 in the second half) (Defeated Rochester, 6-5)
3B Oswald Peraza: 1-for-5, 2 RBI, K 5-for-12 with 4 RBI in August. RF Everson Pereira: 2-for-5, 2 K Pereira is hitting .341/.371/.582 since his promotion. He has compiled three straight 2-hit games (five multi-hit games in his last six games played). When does he get to the Bronx? It may just be by the end of August. The strikeouts are still too high, but I don’t think getting his feet wet for a month or so is going to kill him. C Austin Wells: 1-for-4, 2B (3), RS Wells has hit safely in six of his last seven games. He is taking his walks (.367 OBP) but the power has yet to show up in Scranton. 1B Andres Chaparro: 2-for-4, HR (20), RBI, RS Chaparro joins Tyler Hardman and Estevan Florial in the organization’s 20 HR club and ties his personal best for HR in a season. He is hitting .253/.345/.481 in 417 PA. DH Carlos Narvaez: 1-for-3, 2B (6), RBI, RS, BB, 2 K LF Franchy Cordero: 1-for-3, RS, BB, K 2B Jamie Westbrook: 1-for-2 RS, 2 BB CF Brandon Lockridge: 1-for-4, RS Lockridge has hit safely in eight of his last nine games. His ability to play CF and steal bases makes him a prime Rule 5 choice (even if he was passed over in 2022) SS Wilmer Difo: 1-for-4, RBI, CS (4)
RHP Will Warren: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 2 HR Since promotion: 5.22 ERA (50 IP, 48 H, 37 R, 29 ER, 10 HR, 27 BB, 52 K). He didn’t allow a HR in 29.1 IP for Somerset. Triple-A is just souped up for offense – that doesn’t mean Warren has been great. It just means that it is not an easy level to pitch in. RHP Deivi Garcia: 0.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 0 K RHP Aaron McGarity (W, 5-2): 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K RHP Matt Bowman (S, 5): 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
Somerset (58-39; 16-13 in the second half) (Lost to Akron, 8-2)
LF Jasson Dominguez: 1-for-4, BB .230/.357/.371 in 431 PA. He is off to a 4-for-11 start in August (3 walks) DH Ben Rice: 0-for-4, K CF Elijah Dunham: 1-for-4, RS 1B Mickey Gasper: 0-for-3, RS, BB, K SS Jesus Bastidas: 0-for-3, BB, K With Trey Sweeney hurt last night, Bastidas was demoted down here to get some playing time in. C Anthony Seigler: 1-for-2, 2 BB 2B Max Burt: 1-for-4, 2B (8), RBI, 2 K RF Jeisson Rosario: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K 3B Eduardo Torrealba: 1-for-4, 2 K Torrealba was promoted back up here. Somerset had an infield shortage before tonight.
RHP Yoendrys Gomez: 3 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 2 K 2.62 ERA (34.1 IP, 21 H, 12 R, 10 ER, 2 HR, 24 BB, 38 K) LHP Josh Maciejewski: 1.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K RHP Jesus Liranzo: 1.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, HR RHP Bailey Dees: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K Since promotion: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K
Hudson Valley (56-43; 17-15 in the second half) (Knocked off Wilmington, 6-2)
CF Spencer Jones: 0-for-5, 3 K SS Ben Cowles: 2-for-3, RS, 2 BB, 2 SB (15), CS (3) .253/.347/.396 in 334 PA. He has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games. C Agustin Ramirez: 1-for-5, HR (8), 3 RBI, RS, 2 K If you are going to have one hit, may as well make it a 3-run bomb. Ramirez is hitting .379 with a 1.138 OPS in 112 PA since his promotion (10 doubles, 8 HR, 21 RBI, 20 R). Overall, in 344 PA, he has 17 doubles, 15 HR, 56 RBI, and 55 runs scored. An outstanding season for the 21-year-old catcher. DH Christopher Familia: 1-for-4, HR (6), RBI, RS Familia have five home runs in his last eight games. Overall, including his time with Tampa, he is 6-4 with a 3.09 ERA in 96 IP (85 H, 38 R, 33 ER, 4 HR, 25 BB, 106 K). Yankees MILB 8/4: Richard Fitts: 7 Shutout Innings
POSTED ON AUGUST 4, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
The Yankees have released LHP Tanner Tully, who is on his way to Korea.
Tully was signed to a minor league contract this past winter after spending time in the Cleveland organization. Down in Scranton his season, he pitched to a 5.64 ERA in 91 innings with a 77/26 K/BB. He did his job as a Triple-A innings eater and found employment overseas. Good luck to him.
SS Trey Sweeney is on the injured list down in Somerset. While I didn’t see the play, someone informed me that he injured himself stealing a base the other night. In 429 plate appearances this season, he is hitting .250/.366/.419 (119 wRC+) with 13 home runs, 49 RBI, 62 runs, and 16 stolen bases. Let’s hope he can get back before the season ends (September – so plenty of time)
Scranton (49-54; 15-14 in the second half) (Lost to Rochester, 5-3)
2B Oswald Peraza: 1-for-4, BB, 2 K, CS (4) LF Everson Pereira: 2-for-4, RS Pereira has four straight 2-hit games and has multiple hits (including a 3-hit game) in six of his last seven games. He has been a dominant performer at this level, hitting .347 with a .955 OPS C Austin Wells: 2-for-3, 2B (4), 2 RBI, RS, BB Wells is hitting .279 at this level with four doubles in 12 games. He might be starting to get more comforable. 1B Andres Chaparro: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K 3B Jamie Westbrook: 0-for-4, 2 K DH Franchy Cordero: 1-for-4, RBI, K RF Michael Hermosillo: 1-for-4 CF Brandon Lockridge: 0-for-4, 2 K SS Wilmer Difo: 1-for-3, RS, BB, K
RHP Clayton Beeter: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, HR Last outing: 3.2 IP, 8 H, 11 R, 3 BB, 5 K. I love when kids can toss out a bad outing and come back strong. RHP Jonathan Loaisiga: 1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K He was throwing the sinker as hard as ever, reaching as high as 97.4 MPH. All the damage came in his second inning of work, so I am not going to read too much into that – as long as he is healthy. RHP Zach Greene: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K RHP Ron Marinaccio (L, 0-1): 1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, HR I really don’t have much of an explanation for Marinaccio’s 2023 struggles.
Somerset (59-39; 17-13 in the second half) (Shut down Akron, 5-0)
CF Jasson Dominguez: 1-for-5, 2 K C Ben Rice: 1-for-3, HR (5), 2 RBI, 2 RS, 2 BB, K, SB (1), CS (1) This kind of game will soon be refered to as a “Rice” – other than the stolen base part. He shouldn’t be doing much of that. RF Elijah Dunham: 0-for-2, 3 BB, 2 K, SB (12) Dunham is 24-for-30 stealing bases between here and Scranton. 1B Josh Breaux: 1-for-5, K LF Aaron Palensky: 0-for-4, BB, 2 K, SB (8) DH Anthony Seigler: 0-for-2, RBI, 3 BB, K, SB (5) Seigler has six walks in his last three games. SS Jesus Bastidas: 0-for-4, 3 K 2B Max Burt: 2-for-4, 2B (9), HR (9), RBI, 2 RS, K Burt’s personal HR best is 11 – set last season. 3B Eduardo Torrealba: 1-for-4, RS, K
RHP Richard Fitts: (W, 8-5) 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K 3.56 ERA (113.2 IP, 99 H, 46 R, 45 ER, 17 HR, 28 BB, 123 K). I said it last week: He gives me bulldog vibes. LHP Ryan Anderson: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K At this level: 12.2 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 14 K
Hudson Valley (56-43; 17-15 in the second half) (Knocked off Wilmington, 6-2)
3B Ben Cowles: 2-for-5, 3B (1), 2 RBI, K A nice 6-for-15 start to August has raised his triple slash to .255/.348/.403. LF Christopher Familia: 2-for-5, HR (7), RBI, 2 RS, 2 K Familia has homered in back-to-back games and has six homers in his last nine games. I just have to keep repeating his HR totals because it is amazing: Familia is up to 18 HR and 47 RBI in 45 games between here and Tampa. DH Agustin Ramirez: 2-for-5, HR (9), 2 RBI, RS, K Ramirez has homered in back-to-back games and seven times in his last 12 games. When he was promoted, he was hitting .245/.384/.397 in Tampa. The numbers didn’t jump out at you – but it goes beyond that sometimes. For Hudson Valley, the line is .380/.427/.722. Nuts. 1B Rafael Flores: 1-for-4, RS RF Anthony Garcia: 1-for-4 SS Alexander Vargas: 1-for-4, 3B (6), K Vargas isn’t having a great year, but at least he can say that his six triples lead the way within the organization. C Antonio Gomez: 1-for-4, K CF Grant Richardson: 0-for-1, RS, 3 BB 2B Luis Santos: 0-for-3, RS, BB, K
RHP Drew Thorpe: 5.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 10 K, HR A nice bounceback after a tough outing last time out (4 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 3 HR). Thorpe has five 10+ strikeout games this season and owns a 2.81 ERA in 103.1 IP (78 H, 35 R, 31 ER, 9 HR, 32 BB, 128 K) RHP Carlos Gomez (W, 3-3): 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K RHP Luis Velasquez (S, 2): 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K
Tampa (47-52; 16-17 in the second half) (Lost to Bradenton, 6-3)
2B Jared Serna: 1-for-5 LF Jesus Rodriguez: 0-for-5, 2 K C Omar Martinez: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, K Martinez has a rather incredible 15 RBI in his last four games. He is hitting .273/.379/.498 in 319 PA (11 doubles, 1 triple, 16 HR, 59 RBI, 47 R, 44 BB, 84 K, 8-for-9 SB) DH Anthony Hall: 0-for-3, BB CF Coby Morales: 0-for-3, BB, 3 K RF Jared Wegner: 1-for-4, RS, 2 K Wegner’s first Low-A hit. Congrats! 1B Josh Moylan: 1-for-3, RS, BB Moylan’s first professional hit. Congrats! SS Brenny Escanio: 0-for-3, RS, BB 3B Beau Brewer: 3-for-4, RBI Brewer has a pair of 3-hit games in his last four games.
RHP Kris Bow: (L, 2-4) 3.1 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K RHP Ocean Gabonia: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K RHP Cole Ayers: 2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K 4.08 ERA (46.1 IP, 47 H, 25 R, 21 ER, 3 HR, 17 BB, 64 K). Ayers’ ERA is elevated when compared to many of his relief peers in this system, but they are giving him the “multi inning” treatment.
FCL Yankees (25-17) (Lost a doubleheader to the Blue Jays)
Game 1 (Lost, 7-6)
2B Roc Riggio: 0-for-4, K SS Hans Montero: 1-for-4, RS, K CF Cole Gabrielson: 1-for-3, 3B (1), RBI, 2 RS The first triple in his (very short) debut season. 3B Dylan Jasso: 2-for-4, 2 2B (2), 3 RBI, RS, K The find out of a junior college in New Mexico has a strong Game 1. RF Dayro Perez: 0-for-3, BB, K 1B Enger Castellano: 2-for-4, RS, K, SB (4)
LHP Henry Lalane: 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K The 6’7″ LHP has an impressive 22/3 K/BB ratio over 14 innings. He owns a 4.50 ERA, even though his WHIP is 0.93 and he has allowed only one home run.
Game 2 (Lost, 2-1)
SS Keiner Delgado: 0-for-4 A slow 0-for-11 start to August (he was hitting well in the last several days in July) 3B Enmanuel Tejeda: 2-for-3, BB, K .315/.479/.452 in 165 PA (2 doubles, 3 triples, 3 HR, 21 RBI, 30 R, 34 BB, 35 K, 18-for-23 SB) 2B Hans Montero: 1-for-4, K .257/.425/.414 in 181 PA. LF Joel Mendez: 2-for-4, RS, K .330/.390/.477 in 100 PA. CF Wilson Rodriguez: 2-for-3, BB, K 4-for-10 in his first three professional games. C Edinson Duran: 1-for-4 1B Kelvin Espino: 0-for-2, K PH-1B Dylan Jasso: 0-for-1, BB RF Mauro Bonifacio: 0-for-2, 2 K PH-RF Cole Gabrielson: 0-for-0, RBI, BB

Yankees MILB 8/5: Jasson Dominguez: 3 Hits (2 Doubles)
POSTED ON AUGUST 5, 2023 BY ADMIN News:
The Yankees have signed RHP Zach McAllister to a minor league contract. If that name sounds familiar, he was the Yankees’ third-round pick in the 2006 draft. Yes, he was drafted three years before the Yankees’ latest title.
Eventually traded to Cleveland for OF Austin Kearns in 2010, McAllister has enjoyed a 480-game MLB career, posting a 4.09 ERA (100 ERA+) over 591.2 innings. He hasn’t pitched in MLB since 2018 with the Tigers.
He has bounced around baseball since then. His latest stint was earlier this season, when he pitched to a 4.93 ERA in 38.1 innings for the Diamondbacks Triple-A squad in Reno.
For the Yankees, he is here for depth purposes. They just lost veteran Tanner Tully, so McAllister may just take his slot.
Scranton (49-55; 15-15 in the second half) (Lost to Rochester, 6-4)
SS Oswald Peraza: 1-for-5, 2B (8) Peraza has hit safely in all five August games (7-for-21, 2 doubles) C Austin Wells: 1-for-5, 2B (5), 2 K Wells has doubled in three straight games. LF Everson Pereira: 0-for-3, RS, BB, K Pereira is hitting .337/.371/.561 in 105 PA here and .308/.366/.551 in 290 PA overall. 3B Andres Chaparro: 0-for-2, 2 RS, 2 BB .249/.346/.474 in 425 PA. Howard once had enough prospect credibility to be ranked as one of the top pitching prospects in the game. Baseball is a tough sport. RHP Zac Houston: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K Between here and Somerset: 4.01 ERA in 24.2 IP (16 H, 13 R, 11 ER, 3 HR, 15 BB, 44 K) RHP Greg Weissert: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

CF Elijah Dunham: 0-for-4, K 1B Mickey Gasper: 2-for-4 SS Jesus Bastidas: 0-for-4, K RF Aaron Palensky: 0-for-4, K DH Jeisson Rosario: 0-for-1, 3 BB, K 2B Max Burt: 1-for-4, RS, K, SB (13) 3B Eduardo Torrealba: 0-for-3, RS, BB Burt (single, SB) and Torrealba (BB) set up Dominguez’s heroics.
RHP Matt Sauer: 4.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K A solid line for Sauer, though it did take him 85 pitches to record those 14 outs. RHP Tanner Myatt: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K RHP Alex Mauricio: (W, 2-2) 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K 3.65 ERA (37 IP, 36 H, 16 R, 15 ER, 12 BB, 36 K) RHP Danny Watson (S, 4): 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K Since promotion: 1.05 ERA (24.2 IP, 11 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 HR, 9 BB, 28 K)
Hudson Valley (56-43; 17-15 in the second half) (Lost to Wilmington, 2-1, in ten innings)

RHP Leonardo Pestana: 3.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K In his last appearance down in Tampa, Pestana allowed six runs in 0.2 innings. In his High-A debut tonight, he throws very well.
