where in GF posts does it specify just their yankee career? I see two lists...guys who played for Yankees and all time greats who didnt "With the exception of Arod, GF tried to go with career Yankees.... Yeah yeah, the Babe was a Red Sox, but still...." Try to keep up.

Go back to the original post by Friar. THAT was what i quoted. Then you might look up "direct quote" to familiarize yourself with what that means AB.

We may as well have a conversation about something fun. GF wanted to emphasize just how lucky we are to root for such a great team, year in and year out. The fact that the New York Yankees could field a team that could possibly beat the best ever is pretty amazing.

There you go again, yogi, with that CNN playbook of quoting things directly. Don't you know that it's improper to do that?

AB...this brings to mind a post quite a while ago where you listed Henderson as a greater Yankee OFer than DiMaggio. I seem to recall falling out of my chair laughing when I read that. It was one of his more laughable posts, and that's really saying something. Shame on you two for ruining another great thread with your ridiculous bullying of another poster. And thank you AB for being the bigger man here yet again.

When Henderson retired, I believe he was MLB's career leader in walks, runs scored and stolen bases. That's quite an accomplishment.
I think runs scored is the least appreciated stat in baseball. After all, the team that scores more runs on a given day wins the game. Judge led mlb in that stat this year (by a decent margin), didn't he?

Dead friends, The Good Friar would like to quote The Reverend Martin Luther Rodney King:

To get back to the DiMaggio/Henderson debate, my vote is for DiMaggio. You can't validly compare their career totals of WAR, hits and runs scored because DiMaggio played for 13 years vs. 25 for Henderson. On top of that, DiMaggio lost 3 seasons from the prime of his career (1943-45, when he was 28-30) due to military service. If he had played those years, his career WAR might have been close to 100, which would have been pretty close to Henderson's total even though Henderson's career would still have been much longer.
One stat that is used to compare hitters of different eras is OPS plus. DiMaggio's career OPS plus is 155. Henderson's is 127. That means that DiMaggio's OPS was 55% better than the league average of his day, while Henderson's was 27% better. That's a pretty big difference. Of course, Henderson has a big advantage in stolen bases, but I don't think it's enough to make up for the difference in OPS. DiMaggio was also probably better defensively.
Also consider this. Per 162 games for his career, DiMaggio averaged 34 HR's, 143 RBI's and 130 runs scored. (Henderson's numbers are 16 HR's, 59 RBI's and 121 runs scored). And don't forget, DiMaggio's numbers were compiled in Yankee Stadium I, where it was 461 to center and 457 to left center. Those dimensions would cut down on even Judge's HR totals.
